The holiday spirit shared in a single day provided generous funds to continue critical philanthropic programs for an entire year. This was highlighted at Assistance League's 14th Annual Mistletoe Marketplace Fundraiser recently held at San Marino Club in Troy, raising more than $116,000. It is fitting that the event is named for mistletoe, the symbol of love, as Assistance League volunteers demonstrate outstanding compassion and ongoing love for fellow citizens and neighbors in need.
More than 720 guests enjoyed a luncheon, boutique shopping, auction/raffles, and a strolling fashion show by ReSale Connection - all to support programs that clothe, feed, educate and comfort infants, children, adults, families and seniors in local communities.
Honorary Chairperson Monica Gayle of FOX 2 shared her heartfelt personal experience of helping students choose warm coats, clothing, and books as part of Operation School Bell®, one of Assistance League's signature programs.
To add to this special event, the National Assistance League Operation School Bell Award was presented to Dr. Jeffrey Miller and the staff of Miller Vein. This award was in appreciation and recognition for their generous sponsorship and time in volunteering at Operation School Bell distributions.
Assistance League President Rosemary Dirksen said, "With the support of our generous members and community contributors, we are able to transform lives by strengthening communities, helping over 23,000 children and adults year round."
