Welcome Guest Preacher NEXT WEEKEND!
January 20/21, all services
We are excited to welcome the Rev. Canon John Harmon as our guest preacher next weekend. Fr. John has been a leader in church for decades, currently serving in Washington, DC for the past 17 years. His commitment to making God's love real and tangible to underserved children is remarkable. TEAMM (Trinity Education Arts Music Ministry) is an outreach ministry to children that seeks to enrich their lives and support their growth, development and achievement through a comprehensive program of experience and instructions in academics and the arts. In addition, a ministry that addresses health disparities has realized almost two million in funding from local and federal sources in the metro area.

As we prepare for Annual Meeting, as we cast our vision for St Bart's ministry advancements in the year ahead, Fr. John brings his passion for the Episcopal Church body meeting the real needs of God's people without exception.

Embracing a Life of Meaning
Begins Sunday, January 14 9 a.m., South Parish Hall
5-Part Epiphany Forum Series
Although our consumer culture tells us that the key to happiness is the pleasure we experiences from vacations, larger homes and bigger and better things, study after study confirms that what's really behind lasting happiness and fulfilling lives, is not pleasure, but meaning. Join us through the season of Epiphany as best-selling author and poet Kathleen Norris guides us in a 5-week DVD series exploring "what matters most" hosted by the Rev. Chris Harris.

January 14 - Belief Matters: Why does belief matter? To what do we give our hearts? What is the core message of what we believe-creeds or commitment? To what extent is to believe also "to belove"?

January 21 - The Bible Matters: The Bible is our collective story. How is that story reflected in our daily lives? What is it about the Bible that always seems to address our present moment?

KATHLEEN NORRIS is an award-winning poet, writer and author of four New York Times bestseller. Her work is intimate and historical, rich in poetry and meditations, brimming with exasperation and reverence, deeply grounded in both nature and spirit, sometimes funny and often provocative.

CHILDREN'S FORMATION
Sunday School
Sundays, 10 a.m., Education Building
During the program year (September-June) Sunday School convenes on the 2nd floor of the Education Building at 10:00am. Pre-K uses lectionary-based Spark! Activate Faith leads kids to delve into the same Bible story in Sunday School that is heard during worship. Grades K-3 explore the Bible, church traditions, and follow the church year with Godly Play (www.godlyplay.org). Godly Play is based upon the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God. Grades 4 and 5 return to Spark! Activate Faith for a more mature look at the Bible. It is a unique Bible study all their own. Curious about spiritual formation for your children and family? Our Children's Minister would love to talk with you about ways to enrich your family's faith at church, home and community. For more information contact Alex Howard
Nursery Care
Sundays, 8:30-11:30 a.m., Education Building
Nursery Care is available every Sunday for newborns to 3 years old, free of charge. Our nursery staff are professional preschool teachers who have passed a background check and completed child safety training.
YOUTH CREW NEWS
New Year Labyrinth Walk - NEXT SUNDAY!
January 21, 2018, 2-3:30 p.m.
Mark your calendar for this opportunity to try out a new spiritual practice: walking the labyrinth. We'll visit an outdoor labyrinth in Poway, raising our hopes and prayers for the new year to God. CREW Cafe
Sundays, 9-10 a.m., Youth Room
Every Sunday morning the youth CREW gathers in the youth room. We share what's going on in our lives, pray for each other, and do a Bible study on the Gospel for the week. Curious about the Bible, or how to read it? Join us, and bring your questions and unique perspective.
CREW Wednesday
Wednesdays, 6-8 p.m., Youth Room
We play games, we share a meal, we hang out, we learn together. Are you looking for a community where you can be yourself and explore what it means to live as Jesus taught? As Bishop Michael Curry said, "if you want to change the world, follow Jesus!" Join this supportive, accepting group of middle and high schoolers. All are welcome, no exceptions.
