Faith Pushed Her to Become a Leader and Priest
This is the second story in a series o
n our latest ordinations and installations.

Even though she never thought of herself as a leader when she was younger,
the
Rev. Anne Clarke
has held the leadership position of Lifelong Christian Formation Coordinator of the diocese for two years now.

Clarke grew up in a Lutheran church, where she found purpose in her church's youth group throughout her high school years, and she "
felt compelled to go towards leadership because the work was so compelling and important."
However, because she never saw herself in a leadership role, Clarke put her call to leadership aside
through college, although it was always in the back of her mind. When Clarke moved to Los Angeles (she was originally from Indiana), she joined the Episcopal Church.
Acting on her call to the priesthood, Clarke attended
Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in Berkeley, where she graduated in 2015 with a master of divinity and a master of arts focusing on Faith Formation in the area of Religion and Society.
Currently, Clarke has her hands full planning the youth summer event Pathways and the Episcopal Youth Event (EYE), helping congregations
establish their faith formation ministries and leaders, serving as a College of Congregational Development trainer and more.
As the diocese's Lifelong Christian Formation Coordinator, Clarke hopes to "strengthen congregations and help the community as a diocese have stronger relationships," as well as "grow in the diocese's capacity to discern calls," just as Clarke did herself.

Summer Camp Scholarships - Still Available!
Summer camper scholarships in the amount of $200 will be available to 60 children and youth on a first-come, first-served basis to be used for Diocesan summer youth events.
Congregational leadership members, please
click here for the form to use to request a scholarship. Congregations will be responsible for verifying that each child is eligible and for distributing the scholarships.

Summer Camp Nurses Needed

The Bishop's Ranch is looking for several registered nurses to work one or two weeks of their BREAD camp in July.
The RN position includes $750, room and board, family members can attend the week with them for free, and children of the nurse can attend any camp session for free (if interested/applicable).

Camp Galilee, on the Nevada shore of Lake Tahoe, is also looking for registered nurses to volunteer for week-long camp sessions, ranging from mid-July to early August.

ECS Sunday - May 28
Episcopal Community Services is pleased to announce that Bishop Beisner has designated the seventh Sunday of Easter, May 28, as
ECS Sunday.
All funds raised are for grants used to help congregations develop and support social justice and health ministries in their communities. Since the funds are available to all congregations in our diocese, ECS hopes that all congregations will support this work by participating in this appeal.

CDSP Student from St. Martin's, Davis, Gets Preaching Prize
Congratulations to Alex Leach, who received the Lawrence Kristin Mikkelson Preaching Scholarship, awarded to a Church Divinity School of the Pacific student who has demonstrated outstanding promise as a preacher and a commitment to social justice and human dignity.
Kudos, too, to the Rev. Dr. Pamela Anderson, who received a Certificate of Anglican Studies at the commencement ceremonies May 19.

Rector to Become Navy Reserve Captain

The Rev. Dr. Sean Cox, who will be receiving a new rank of Captain in the Navy Reserve.
The Rev. Sean Cox stated that he will receive his pin either August or September of 2018.

Former Rector at Incarnation, Santa Rosa, Moving North
The Rev. Dr. Matthew Lawrence, former rector of Incarnation, Santa Rosa, is moving to Trin
ity Cathedral in Portland, Oregon, as their Canon for Spiritual Formation on Sept. 15.
He will continue as a chaplain resident at Sutter CPMC hospitals in San Francisco through mid-August.

Men's Ministry Workshop - Sept. 16
St. Augustine's, Rocklin, will host a one-day workshop, designed to inspir

Diocese Convention Convocations - Oct. 14
The convocations of the seven deaneries of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California will occur on Saturday, Oct. 14. A convocation (from the Latin convocare meaning "to call/come together", a translation of the Greek ἐκκλησία ekklēsia) is a group of people formally assembled for a special purpose, in this case, preparation for Diocesan Convention, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4.

Thy Kingdom Come, a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension Day and Pentecost,

Pride Evensong & History of Ministry for LGBTQ+ Panel
On June 15, the Diocese of California will host a Pride Evensong at Grace Cathedral, beginning at 5:15 p.m. Following the service, a panel will discuss the history of ministry for LGBTQ+ people in the Diocese of California.
