Businesses, non-profit organizations and institutions can save hundreds of dollars annually with a new energy efficiency rebate program.
Organizations and businesses can purchase and install eligible energy-efficient lighting, heating and other products to receive a rebate to a maximum of $60,000 per year, per facility on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alberta organizations that can participate in this program include:
- Individual businesses (except large final emitters as defined in Alberta's Specified Gas Emitters Regulation)
- Non-profit organizations
- Co-operatives
Institutions such as schools, hospitals, universities and colleges
Multi-unit residential buildings: common areas such as lobbies, recreation rooms and parking lots are included...

Existing literature clearly indicates that there is positive value associated with international students coming and studying in Canada. Roslyn Kunin and Associates (RKA) was commissioned by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (currently Global Affairs Canada) to conduct this study to assess the economic impact of international students studying in Canada in 2014 on the Canadian economy. The current study updates the 2012 study of the same purpose with more recent data and an improved estimation approach.

Canadian government eases citizenship process for international students

- The Canadian government has introduced legislation to reduce the period of physical residency required to apply for Canadian citizenship
- The new legislation will also restore a provision that allows international students to count time spent studying or working in Canada against that residency requirement
- The government has also committed to a review of the Canadian Experience Class programme, a key path to permanent residency for international students in Canada
The newly elected government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has introduced legislation to repeal a number of controversial changes to the Canadian Immigration Act. Under the previous Conservative government, a number of changes to the Act were packaged as Bill C-24 and passed into law in June 2015.
