2017: A Review
As 2017 rolled by, the Eastside Pathways partnership, supported by the small backbone staff, had some significant achievements. Most notably, the partnership was strengthened by the joining of Lake Washington School District and the Lake Washington Schools Foundation as partners, thereby expanding the impact area to beyond Bellevue. As 2017 drew to a close, the Eastside Pathways Board and the Partner Leadership Committee (PLC) met in December for a day-long strategic retreat to discuss the way ahead and goals for 2018. The end of the year also brought some great news as five of our partner organizations were awarded $855,000 over 3 years as part of the Bests Start for Kids investments to expand quality after school and summer learning opportunities.

Launch of NISO Promotores Program

New investments expand quality after school and summer learning opportunities
Best Starts for Kids, in partnership with School's Out Washington, announced in December 2017, new investments to create more opportunities for children and young people to flourish outside of the school day.
Five partners of Eastside Pathways - (and members of the Summer and Extended Learning collaborative Summer and Extended Learning collaborative) - The Bellevue School District, Boys and Girls Club, City of Bellevue Parks & Community Services, KidsQuest Children's Museum, and the YMCA of Bellevue were awarded $855,000 over 3 years. They will provide 195 unduplicated students experiencing homelessness with enriching summer and year-round programming.

There are many different ways to approach the planning process, but the best plans are results-based - they use data to guide decision-making. Using data to continually measure conditions of wellbeing allows communities to determine areas of need, focus resources and strategies on making the greatest impact, measure whether efforts are making a difference, and quickly adjust the plan as needed.

Eastside Pathways is a community-wide partnership on the Eastside that works collectively to attain better outcomes for children, cradle to career (birth to 26 years). We use the collective impact framework to work across sectors, focus on different goals to improve educational outcomes for children and make lasting systems. The partnership is supported by a backbone organization that mobilizes, convenes, and facilitates its work.
