Easter Altar

Dear Friends,

This Sunday is the seventh Sunday of Easter, the last Sunday before we celebrate Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit to the Church. For the past weeks of Eastertide, we have meditated on the resurrected Jesus and his farewell discourse as he prepares the Disciples for the time when he will no longer be with them bodily.

This Sunday, we hear the last part of Jesus' farewell, but before that we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension on Thursday with a Solemn High Eucharist at 6:30 pm. This is one of the major feasts of the Church and essential to our faith. After all, for the Resurrection to have meaning, we must allow that Jesus returns to the Creator, promising to send us another Advocate, the Holy Spirit. Ascension is the hinge between Jesus being present with us bodily and us becoming the Body of Christ on earth after he ascends.

Just as we remember at Easter that "Life Wins," at Ascension and Pentecost we remember that we are called to be the Body of Christ on earth.

This Sunday we will also witness the marriage of Steve Powers and Win Tackett within the Mass. What better time to be married than during the weekly celebration of the Eucharist, when we gather as the Body of Christ? After all, when we marry, it is not just to one another but within our community. I look forward to celebrating this Sacrament with all of you! (And in case you're worried about time, the marriage rite will take less time than a baptism!)

Finally, please see the exciting announcement below about Erin Hougland's ordination to the diaconate and plan to celebrate next Thursday, June 1 at 7:00 pm right here at All Saints. This will be the first time Bishop Baskerville-Burrows ordains someone and a confirmation of what we've known all along, that Erin is certainly called to ordained ministry!

Beloved, you are beautiful, I love you, and God adores you.

In Christ,  Mother Suzanne+

Opportunity to help our neighbors at Dayspring!

We will be providing and serving dinner to the Dayspring residents on Thursday, May 25, 2017.  We usually arrive by 5:30 pm, serve dinner at 6:00 pm, and are often finished serving and cleaning up by 7:15 pm.  If you would like to help in some way, either this month or in the future, with this monthly ministry, by providing food, helping to serve, and/or helping to clean up, please contact Penny Scott at [email protected].

Kitchen Rehab!

A small group of committed parishioners pitched in a week ago to give our parish hall kitchen a much-need facelift.

Thanks to Jeff Hostetter, Jeff's nephew, Josh Siege, Freida Thompson, and Linda Ferreira for taking down our cabinets and replacing them with open, wire shelves; replacing our sink, moving the refrigerator; repainting; and organizing our kitchenware. Be sure to take a look at our much more open, user friendly kitchen!

Columbarium Availability

We are fortunate at All Saints to have a beautiful columbarium, which is a place to store funeral urns containing cremated remains. We have niches in both the Michael and Mary Chapels. We also have a memorial garden outside with a number of plots available for ashes.

We have recently sold a number of the niches inside. The niches in the Michael Chapel are full, and there are now only 15 niches left in the Mary Chapel. If you are interested in reserving a niche, please contact Linda Dernier, Parish Administrator, at [email protected] for more information.

Pastoral Care Concern: Father Tom McCart

Father Tom McCart, retired priest who attends All Saints, is seriously ill and has recently been moved to Carmel for care.

Father Tom is much fun to be around and would certainly enjoy visits and cards. You can do both at Green House Cottages, 608 Green House Way, Carmel, IN 46032.

If you visit, Father Tom is in the first cottage, #1 on the left of the drive as you enter. There is much construction surrounding the building, but essentially Green House Cottages are on 126th St., west of Keystone. It is a one-lane road heading west.

Whatever you do, please also pray for Father Tom.

A New Gift Policy for All Saints

The Vestry has adopted a new gift policy for All Saints to help ensure that we receive gifts that can be directed and used to the greatest good for All Saints.

We are so fortunate to be part of a church with generous members, both in gifts given each year and those left to us through people's estates. This new policy will help all of us plan better.

Check in next week to read the gift policy here!

Drivers needed on Sunday mornings to pick up persons wanting to attend Mass, but who can not get here on their own. We would love to put together a rota of people who might pick up parishioners who live nearby.

Nothing is more important than ensuring that our members can worship together!

Please consider offering your driving services once a month.

If interested please contact Mother Suzanne at [email protected].

Save the Date:
The parade and festival will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017.

Interested in staffing the table at the Festival? There is a training this Saturday at 3 pm for this; let Mother Suzanne know by end of Thursday if you're interested!

There are some changes to this year's festivities. The two biggest changes are the reversal of the parade route (the route is the same length as past years) and a change in festival venue to Military Park in White River State Park.

The Big, Big, Really Big Sidewalk Yard Sale is happening in the yard at All Saints Church on Saturday, July 15, 2017, for the 11th consecutive year.

We are once again a part of the Indiana Landmarks Treasure Hunt event taking place throughout the Old Northside neighborhood.

Pat Griffin is organizing the event this year; updates will be provided so you will know when it is time to start bringing yard sale items to the Parish Hall, but please do not start yet!

If questions, contact Pat: [email protected] or (317)638-1320. Thanks for your interest in donating and helping out at this event, which is held to raise money for a charitable cause.

A NEW Flowers and Prayer lamp sign up sheet is in the parish hall. Please feel free to sign up for future weeks.

A NEW COFFEE HOUR sign up sheet for the months of May - Mid-September is now displayed in the parish hall awaiting volunteers.
