SALUS CELEBRATES DR. TOLAND'S LIFE: FIRST SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT HONORED
On Su nday, May 7, former colleagues, friends and family members of the University's  Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO)  professor Joseph Toland OD '54, MD gathered to honor his legacy at a special reception following the annual Dr. Joseph C. Toland Excellence in Education Conference.  At the event, Katherine Boas '19OD was awarded the first Joseph C. Toland Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established to honor Dr. Toland's legacy.
 
   Inaugural Transition to Practice Event
PREPARE FOR LIFE AFTER GRADUATION

On Tuesday, May 23, the reinvigorated Bennett Career Services Center will host its inaugural Transition to Practice event for the class of 2017 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center's classroom. The session includes a variety of speakers that will discuss a range of topics, including personal financial planning, employment contracts and negotiations, loan repayment, and communications skills.

PA Curriculum Extends Beyond the Classroom 
PA STUDENTS VOLUNTEER AT MANNA 

On four separate mornings during the month of April, the University's Physician Assistant (PA) students, faculty and staff members chopped vegetables, made sandwiches and delivered hundreds of diet-specific meals to those in need alongside members of the Metropolitan AIDS Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (better known as MANNA).

TWO EVENTS TO HONOR BETTER HEARING AND SPEECH MONTH
From May 22-31, anyone who brings in their current hearing aids to t he Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI)  for donation will receive $250 off the purchase of each new hearing aid (up to a $500 discount).  RSVP here

PEI and the Speech-Language Institute are holding complimentary hearing and speech-language screenings at the Abington YMCA (1073 Old York Road) on Tuesday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. RSVP here
