Your voice needed!
Dear  ,

Construction work for Martinez USD, Palomar CCD, and other public works entities are about to become union-only. CFEC fights on your behalf, but we need you to be involved and let these elected officials know that Project Labor Agreements are harmful to their local workforce and businesses. Don't lose your right to fair and open competition!

Education
Martinez Unified School District: The MUSD Board of Trustees voted 3-2 last week to bring back at their June 12 th  board meeting a discussion to begin "negotiating" a PLA. This decision was covered by local media which can be read  here . Local big labor special interests have been working for more than two years to try and get Measure K placed under a PLA. What we need from you:
  1. Contact the Board today and express your position on PLAs to them.
  2. Tell Trustee Jonathen Wright he needs to recuse himself from voting on this issue due to his conflict of interest
  3. Plan on attending the Board meeting on June 12th at 921 Susana St., Martinez, 94553.
Palomar Community College District:  Today, Tuesday, May 23rd, at 5:00pm, the College's Board of Trustees are scheduled to hold the first of two Project Labor Agreement (PLA) study sessions. The Board is poised to do the bidding of local union bosses who want the remainder of their Measure M bond monies to be locked up. We need you to do the following:
  1. Contact the board with your position on PLAs today.

2. Attend the meeting and speak out  against  the PLA. The meeting will be held in room SSC-1 on San Marcos Campus, 1140 W Mission Rd., San Marcos.

Cities
City of San Francisco:  CFEC and our allies are holding ongoing meetings with San Francisco County Supervisors about their proposed countywide PLA. If you would like to be involved in these meetings contact CFEC today and let us know. These elected officials need to hear from you.

City of San Jose:  Yesterday, May 22nd, the City held its latest PLA Taskforce meeting. CFEC will keep you updated as to the latest regarding union attempts to place all city work under a PLA.

Statewide
California High Speed Rail: Governor Jerry Brown, when he's not insulting President Trump, is busy asking him for money for this train to nowhere. We aren't kidding.

National
This excellent editorial that appeared in the Orange County Register shows how Republicans can increase the amount of money going to infrastructure without having to increase taxes to do it. Of course one of those ways is to not place PLAs on the work.
