Monthly Business Luncheon with Gary McHenry
Gary D. McHenry is a 4th generation Texan, dating to 1850 when his great grandparents settled in Upshur County in northeast Texas.
   Mr. McHenry is the Firm Administrator of Sullins & Johnston, Attorneys at Law, P.C., with offices in Liberty and Houston.  Mr. McHenry has over 25 years of legal administration experience and is the author of published articles relating to healthcare payment plans and reimbursement, and human resources.  Mr. McHenry's extensive healthcare, legal administration and management experience has helped Sullins & Johnston become a leader in healthcare revenue cycle management.  
   Prior to joining Sullins & Johnston, Mr. McHenry was a healthcare executive and served as the Chief Executive Officer of two major hospitals located in the Texas Medical Center.  As a healthcare professional, Mr. McHenry was a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  
   Mr. McHenry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University (1970) and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Houston Baptist University (1979).  Mr. McHenry has been a guest lecturer at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health, and taught Principles of Business at Lone Star College (formerly North Harris County College).
   In 1994, Mr. McHenry was commissioned by Texas Governor Ann Richards as an Admiral in the Texas Navy (texasnavy.com) for outstanding service to the youth of Texas.   Mr. McHenry is a past Board Member of the Boy Scouts of America, Sam Houston Area Council and has been active at all levels of the Scouting program, receiving numerous awards and honors.  In 1996 Mr. McHenry received the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to the youth of the Sam Houston Area Council.    Mr. McHenry is a James E. West Fellow (Boy Scouts of America) and a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary International/Rotary Foundation). Mr. McHenry is a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and currently serves on the Speakers Committee as Committee Chairman, and on the Grand Entry Committee as a Mule Skinner and Wrangler.  Mr. McHenry is also a member of the Salt Grass Trail Association.
   Married to Miriam Partlow McHenry, Miriam and Gary have 3 children (Ben, Jake and Marlee); 2 Aggies and 1 Longhorn; and 1 grandson, Wesley, born in July 2017. Miriam and Gary enjoy spending time at their ranch in Hardin.

2018 CHAMBER AWARDS BANQUET
The Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold our 42nd Annual Awards Banquet Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at the Dayton Community Center.  
   The banquet is a very special chamber event with attendance of 400-plus area business and individual members. Outgoing Directors for 2017 will be honored and the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award for Liberty and for Dayton will be announced.
   The keynote speaker for this year's banquet is Channel 13 news anchor Art Rascon. Art is an Emmy award-winning reporter and Texas native with a lengthy background covering wars and conflicts around the world, as well as major events with CBS News including the Oklahoma City bombing, the O.J. Simpson case, the Branch Davidian stand-off, Mexico's guerilla wars, Haiti's civil unrest, and many others.

"Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent (November 2017), setting a new record for the lowest unemployment rate recorded in four decades. The Texas economy added 54,500 seasonally adjusted nonfarm jobs in November. Annual employment growth for Texas increased to 2.7 percent in November, marking 91consecutive months of annual growth".

  • Coffee with the Mayor. Held the third Thursday of each month. Citizens of Liberty are invited to have coffee with Mayor Carl Pickett and City Manager Gary Broz in the council chambers of City Hall.
