Meet our 2017 Honoree: Andrew Watterson
Andrew's community service focuses on the intersection of arts, sustainability and community development.

Andrew has served on the board of CPT since 2009 and also serves on the Gordon Square Arts District board - initially as a CPT representative, and then as a board member. Andrew has also served on the boards of the Cleveland International Film Festival and the GreenCity Blue Lake Institute at the Cleveland Natural History Museum.

It was Andrew's internship several years ago at Detroit-Shoreway Community Development Organization (DSCDO) that "got him hooked" on community engagement. With DSCDO, he worked on EcoVillage, an urban redevelopment project that aims to create an economically and ecologically sustainable community within our Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood - and in fact, Andrew wrote his senior thesis on the project.

Andrew is Senior Vice President and Head of Sustainability for KeyBank, a $135 billion financial institution that operates across 15 states. He uses his sustainability and organizational change expertise to lead the bank in the development and execution of a sustainability strategy that positions KeyBank for growth. Andrew works with the corporate responsibility team and bank leadership to balance margin and mission to achieve dependable results.

Prior to his position at KeyBank, Andrew was a senior consultant at BrownFlynn, a sustainability and corporate responsibility consulting firm located in Cleveland. Previously, Andrew was the City of Cleveland's first Chief of Sustainability and led the coordination of Sustainable Cleveland 2019, an action plan to create an economic engine to empower a green city on a blue lake.

Andrew holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Policy and Economics from Bates College and a Master's in Positive Organizational Development from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.

After returning from Portland, Oregon, Andrew chose to reside in the near west side neighborhood and lived for 10 years in Gordon Square Arts District, most recently moving with his husband Randy Lanoue to the Edgewater Park neighborhood. His love for this community runs deep and he is invested in the redevelopment of the District through community support, real estate investments and the support of the arts. In his free time, Andrew and Randy spend time with their dog Sophie, entertaining at their home and sailing on the lake from Edgewater Yacht Club on their sailboat.
