Chalice Community Openings: Are you seeking deeper connections with other members and friends of UUCF? Interested in exploring spiritual topics, meaningful conversation and sharing your insights? Please consider joining one of UUCF's Chalice Communities, our Small Group Ministry program. Openings are available in the following groups that meet twice per month: Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings,and Sunday afternoons (after the second service). Sacred Dreamwork, Part II: Saturday, January 13, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
This class will explore: the use of art when working with dreams, various ways to improve dream recall (inc. dream incubation) and a simple methodology for working with dreams within a group setting. Please bring a personal dream (not for group sharing). We will practice with several other dream examples. Part I of the class is NOT a pre-requisite for this class.

Conflict Resolution Weekend Workshop at UUCF : Friday, January 26 - Sunday, January 28. Facilitated by Alternatives to Violence facilitators, this weekend intensive workshop will help participants: 
  • Learn tools for resolving everyday conflicts
  • Avoid the added pain of expressing angry words that go beyond the issue at hand and further wound others and ourselves.
  • Practice a method for expressing our heartfelt needs and wants, find common ground, and move forward from seemingly incompatible points of view.

Blue moon Labyrinth Walk : Wednesday, January 31, 6:00 pm (Chapel) 
Come enjoy the beauty and peace of the Labyrinth by the light of the full moon! Please be sure to arrive by  7:30 pm at the latest. Everyone is welcome. During the cooler months, we take our Labyrinth practice indoors, and will be walking the Rainbow Seed Labyrinth, a canvas Classical-pattern Labyrinth. Please remember clean socks or slippers to walk the Labyrinth in. Divination practice is welcome - please feel free to bring your preferred divination tool or just stop by for a reading.

Frederick Refuge Recovery Open Meetings: Thursdays, weekly, 7:00 p.m. (Room 125). Refuge Recovery is a mindfulness-based addiction recovery community that practices and utilizes Buddhist philosophy as the foundation of the recovery process. UULM-MD Legislative Kick-off, January 20: Nancy and David Hutchins have several spots left in their vehicle for those who can attend the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Maryland Kick-off event on January 20. Wells Fargo Bank is funding the Keystone XL pipeline, ignoring the global warming impacts and undermining the emission reduction goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Not knowing about this as allowed a false narrative about who UUs have been to flourish. Women's March on Frederick: Sunday, January 21, 1:00 p.m. Corners of Market and Patrick Streets in downtown Frederick. JOIN US to CELEBRATE the 2nd Anniversary of the Women's March in Frederick (2017), where more than 1,000 of us gathered to march for civility, respect, justice, and fairness for ALL people! 

We will MEET at the corners of Market Street and Patrick Street at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, 2018.   We will then march down to Carroll Creek where we will all rally together  and organizers will also be there to gather with everyone to share a few thoughts!

BRING a sign that speaks to your hopes and aspirations, for what you stand up to oppose, for what you support in our communities, our civic lives, and our politics! THIS is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION!

The Frederick School of Religion convenes for its 35th consecutive year of classes on February 12, 2018. The School is an ecumenical teaching organization that provides a 'Learning for Life'experience for both laity and clergy. The six-week series of classes includes a broad range of religious topics appealing to diverse faith groups. The location this year is Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Rd., Frederick, MD 21702 . Courses will be offered on consecutive Mondays and Tuesdays from February 12th  through  March  20th, with two courses each afternoon (1 to 3pm), and two each evening (7 - 9pm).   These eight courses covering a broad range of topics: the continuation  course on Banned Questions About the Bible with Carl Gregg; The Book of Daniel as Anti-Gospel with Larry Eubanks ; Wrestling For a Blessing from the Parables of Jesus with Anabel Proffitt; Augustine of Hippo   taught by Julie Wilberding ; The One Percent vs The 99 Percent led by Gerry Hanberry ; Miracles of The Galilee with Jordan Hersh; The Spirit's Call to Evolve taught by Toni Fish ; and, Faith and Art in the Christian Tradition with Charles Harrell.
