I love to teach. It's one of my favorite things to do here at Bet Torah. And every time I do it I hear the voice of one of my teachers in my head saying, 'if you teach a lesson and don't learn anything new, then it wasn't a very good lesson.' Or, to paraphrase the compendium of Jewish wisdom from the 6th century called the Talmud, it is from our students that we can learn the most of all.

Which is why I am so excited for this year's Erev Shavuot program on Tuesday evening May 30 th.
(Mark your calendars for one week from today!)

Because this year I (and YOU!) will get to learn from Adrian Kalikow, Marcy Aufrichtig, Jessica Rosh, Amy Gottesfeld, Ken Gordon, Kyle Gordon, Lori Paprin, Joanna Segal, Cassandra Greenberg, Gail Greenberg, Roy Kozupsky, Lisa Horowitz, Jerry Fensterstock, Eli Abemayor, Michael Gordon, Richard Stern, Alan Sock and more.

There is something for everyone in the topics they will share. Mindfulness is all the rage these days, so come hear about Mindfulness and Judaism. Are you a foodie? Hear what the Talmud has to say about it. Always been baffled by all those confusingly named Jewish sources? Learn about how to study Midrash or the Jewish bookshelf.  Love music? Then come learn about Leonard Cohen's vision. And last but certainly not least, hear what our tradition says about how to increase peace in the world. And the good news is that you get to explore three different topics that evening!

The Torah teaches that our tradition is not supposed to be baffling nor beyond our reach, but rather that it should accessible to all. So while some of us have a lot of Jewish 'learning' and others of us have very little, on this Shavuot-the holiday that celebrates the giving of the Torah to each and every one of us-please join us as your peers share what they have discovered. Trigger warning: a little learning can habit forming J

And if that's not enough to whet your appetite, well there'll be ice cream and dessert as well.

Please feel free to join us for any or all of what should be a wonderful evening.
