A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 05 22 17

Parents and Guardians,

Ready or not, summer is only a week away. It has truly been a pleasure to work with you and your students this year. I hope each of you has a great summer, and that you have the opportunity to spend meaningful time together with your family.

This week begins final exams for underclassmen and will conclude with an Early Release Day on Friday at 1:00 pm. Students will finish their exams and be dismissed for lunch at 12:00 and may leave campus at that time. Bus riders will gather in the cafeteria for lunch until the busses arrive.

We also invite you to join us in the LHS Courtyard at 10:20 am on Friday as Seniors take their Senior Walk through the building for the final time. Seniors end that walk through the courtyard with the cheering of students and community. This tradition is very special to our Seniors and a favorite of staff and underclassmen as well.

Graduation for the Class of 2017 will be at the Allen Event Center at 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, May 27th. I hope you will be able to attend as we honor our Seniors and their accomplishments. A live feed will be posted on the district website for those interested in viewing graduation. It is always a great event and a great celebration for our community.

Have a great week.

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

LHS launches Online Leadership Course for LHS students this summer
This summer, LHS will launch the first of many Online Signature Courses as part of their move into the secondary school online course market. A 7-week long Leadership course will be the inaugural LHS Online Signature Course offered to Lovejoy High School students. Successful completion of the course will satisfy the .5 credit speech graduation requirement. The course will be facilitated by LHS Leadership instructor, Jenay Sherman, and will feature many engaging aspects not regularly found in the standard secondary school online course. Students should check with their guidance counselor for enrollment requirements as space is limited. Click here for more information.

Revolution Prep
For many students, summer is the best time to prepare for high-stakes college entrance exams such as the PSAT, SAT, and ACT, catch up on difficult academic subjects, or get ahead in honors or Advanced Placement courses that your child will be taking the upcoming school year. The summer allows students to devote the time they need to achieve superior results with fewer distractions.

In an effort to continue to provide Lovejoy High School families with excellent academic resources, Revolution Prep, a nationwide leader in academic and test preparation tutoring is offering our students 4 free hours of tutoring! Rev Prep's tutoring starts as low as $39/hour for their brand new semi-private tutoring program and $129/hour for their private one-on-one tutoring. Revolution's programs are delivered live-online, and allow Lovejoy High School students the opportunity to work with an expert, professional tutor in any academic subject. Redeem by June 30, 2017.

To take advantage of this offer, please contact  Jayme Wakefield at 972-535-5596 or  jayme.wakefield@revolutionprep.com.

Senior Project - Children's Miracle Network
Ashton Franquiz, a Junior at Lovejoy High School, will be competing in the Miss Texas Outstanding Teen pageant. She is the reigning Miss Hunt County's Outstanding Teen 2017.  Ashton is a philanthropist at heart and feels blessed to be raised in North Dallas and in the Lovejoy District. She is part of the Majestics leadership team, choir, theatre program, and NHS. She dances outside of school and finds time to give back through the National Charity League. Ashton feels "To much is given, much is required." Ashton believes we all can make a difference, even if it is 1 hour serving somewhere.  Some are called to serve and some are called to give, but by doing something, we can all make a difference.

Over the next several weeks, Ashton is raising money for the Children's Miracle Network. Would you help her in this campaign?  "Your spare change can make a change."  Containers to collect change will be located at each campus.
