Let's honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Many ways to celebrate MLK Day in West Contra Costa

Our national holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is next Monday. This holiday has become a national day of service, where we honor Dr. King's legacy by volunteering in our communities. What a fitting way to honor our national hero, who once said, "The time is always right to do right."

The theme of this year's El Cerrito parade and celebration is "Keeping the Dream Alive -- resilient in our resistance." This is especially relevant at this point in our national history, with Presidential challenges to our democratic values of equity, inclusion, tolerance, and justice.

I'll be participating in many of the events listed below, and hope to see you there. This gives me hope and optimism for our future!
