Introduction to Tai Chi and Chi Gung
 Saturday, January 13, 10:15 - 11 am
 
Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Tai Chi and Chi Gung also spelt Qigong are ancient practices that have led to improved health, fitness, wellbeing and longevity. They both cultivate the Qi, also spelt Chi -- the life energy that flows through the body's energy pathways -- by combining movement, breathing and meditation.
   
Tween Graphic Novel Book Club

Little Bits Inventor Club
 Thursday, January 18 at 3:30 pm
 
Student in Grades 3 and up are invited to join the Little Bits Inventor Club which will meet every Third Thursday of each month.
 
LittleBits makes technology kits that are fun, easy-to-use, and infinitely creative. The kits are composed of electronic building blocks that are color-coded, magnetic, and make complex technology simple and fun. Together they're interchangeable in millions of different ways to empower kids to invent anything - from a sibling alarm, to a wireless robot, to a digital instrument.

Cooking Club @ Cresskill Library
Thursday, January 18, 6 - 8pm 
           
Cooking Club at Cresskill Library is for patrons who love to cook or want to try new recipes. The members meet on the Third Thursday of every month. For the next meeting each member can select a recipe from the book Valerie's Home Cooking by Valerie Bertinelli and prepare a dish at home; enough so every member gets to try it. Pick up a copy of the book at the library. Paper goods, cutlery and microwave to warm the food will be provided. Come try new cuisines, make friends and have a good time.
       
Civil War Women: The Influential and the Infamous
 Thursday, January 18, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
 
Join James Devine, a lecturer in American history at Bergen Community College for a presentation which will provide snapshots of the postwar lives of the wives and widows of famous Civil War figures...and spotlight a few women who themselves were important, if neglected, figures in the War itself.
A USAF veteran of the Vietnam War era, and a  graduate of Bergenfield High School and Ramapo College, Mr. Devine is the author of two best selling alternate history novels, The Dominion's Dilemma: The United States of British America and The Nixon Challenge.

Communicating with Beyond

Hercules Invictus, invites you to explore the topic of 'Communicating with the Beyond' and share your own beliefs and experiences.
  
Hercules  Invictus has been exploring the fringes of our reality throughout his entire life and has been sharing his experiences publicly for over four decades. He founded, among other things, the  Regional Folklore Society of Northeastern PA  and the Center for the Study of Living Myth  (CSLM) in NJ .

ESL Classes @ Cresskill Library
Tuesdays at 1 pm
 
 ESL classes are scheduled to begin in February, every Tuesday at 1 pm. This class focuses on English Idioms and Colloquial Language and is for those who have a working knowledge of English but perhaps are not familiar with subtle nuances of everyday speech.

The Friends of Cresskill Library have partnered with TD Bank to provide an easy way to raise money for the library. Library patrons can visit the TD Bank and find out more about the Affinity Program when they open a new account and inform their TD Bank Representative that they are affiliated with Cresskill Library (Code AH590). Existing TD Bank customers can enroll too. All information regarding participating accounts will be kept confidential.

Morningstar Investment Research Center is an online database offered by the Cresskill Public Library to serve all levels of investors, from beginners to experts, with a range of dynamic tools and thoughtful perspectives to help you make more informed investment decisions. The database has a user-friendly
interface and content is updated frequently to provide patrons with practical, real-time research and educational resources.
 
Morningstar Investment Research Center provides data on over 37,500 stocks, 175,000 mutual funds, 11,000 exchange-traded funds, and 9,700 closed-end funds. It also includes unbiased analyst reports on over 5,800 securities, offering in-depth background and analyst opinions on investments. The database includes an interactive classroom to teach basic and advanced stock and fund portfolio techniques while special reports cover key topics spanning from retirement to the basics of exchange- traded funds and options.
 
Screening tools allow patrons to build a list of investment that meet your criteria while Portfolio X-Ray enables you to view how your selected investments will work together in a portfolio. Customizable retirement and college cost calculators help you obtain the information you need to prepare for your
future.
 
Every component of the web-based database expresses Morningstar's commitment to empowering individuals to understand your investment options and successfully manage your portfolios. If you're unfamiliar with the database, you can attend a webinar training that is offered twice a month. The
training schedule and information can be located on the database under the 'Help & Education' tab.
