History has a way of repeating itself, particularly if we are not reminded of it and the consequences of what happened.
We are capable of learning from our successes and our failures as individuals as well as society. As humans, we are capable of learning from others. We can study what they did, how they handled themselves and the results, good or bad.
Why, then, do we tend to avoid history, quit teaching it, or reinterpret it to make even the worst sound good or acceptable.
We put down free enterprise and good hard work. We promote equality but at the lowest common denominator dragging the successful down rather than building the less successful up. Mediocrity becomes the new norm and those who do not aspire to that model are chastised and/or penalized.
Let's commit ourselves to study the past, learn from it and, most importantly pass that knowledge on to those who are coming of age in this world.
