CCA values feedback and provides 2 surveys for you to participate in regarding teachers and the school environment. SAC (School Accountability Committee) and the CCA Board will provide access to these surveys at the same time. The Teacher Feedback Survey for Parents, and the Climate Survey for school feedback, will be available starting TUESDAY, JANUARY 9th, 2018 .

Cherry Creek Academy is excited to provide the opportunity to collect feedback from you regarding teachers and the school environment.

The Teacher Feedback Survey   data is used to provide teachers feedback and is part of their performance evaluation done by the Principal and Assistant Principals. This survey contains only 5 questions.

The Climate Survey data is reviewed by the School Accountability Committee (SAC) in conjunction with CCA administration and the CCA Parent Board to help make improvements to the school.

The  Teacher Feedback Survey for Parents   and the  Climate Survey  are being administered at the same time.

This link,   https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FVLHJDK , will take you to the Teacher Feedback Survey  for Parents.  At the end of the survey, you will then click another link to go to the Climate Survey.

Both surveys should not take longer than 30-60 minutes to complete. You are allowed to enter 2 hours of volunteer time for taking both surveys!

As a parent-involved charter school, this is your chance to help provide both positive and constructive feedback for CCA teachers and the administration and board. Note that both surveys are intended to be filled out by parents, not students. The surveys work best taken from a computer rather than a phone.

Both surveys will be closed January 21st.

THANK YOU! - Aaron Castro, SAC Committee
Personnel Updates

We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Milagros (Milli) Vargas Hilbert to Cheery Creek Academy as our new CCA 7/8 Spanish teacher.  A native of Puerto Rico with full Spanish fluency, Mrs. Hilbert moved to Voorhees, NJ in 1978. After spending several years in the medical technology fields of immunohematology and microbiology, Mrs. Hilbert completed her B.A. in Spanish (Minor: Secondary Education) from Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. She also received her M.A. (Spanish) from the University of Northern Iowa.

Mrs. Hilbert then spent the next 18 years as a Spanish teacher, her first five years at the high school level in Pemberton (NJ) Public Schools. She then moved to Moorestown (NJ) Township Public Schools in 2004 where she spent her first two years again at the high school level. In 2006, Mrs. Hilbert transitioned to the middle school level and taught 7th and 8th grade Spanish from September 2006 through June 2016. She also served as a department advisor and mentor teacher. Milli and her husband moved to Denver one year ago.  Fortunately for us, the timing was right for Milli to return to the Spanish classroom and I couldn't be more thrilled than to have her join us at Cherry Creek Academy.
Rea Faber is a master's student in special education at Regis University. She will be working with Jamie McIntyre-Wedde this semester. She is originally from Iowa and did her undergraduate studies at Iowa State University. Rea has enjoyed the wonderful hiking and skiing that Colorado has to offer.
We are also pleased to announce that Chelsea Anderson has been hired as the new Communications Specialist. Chelsea has worked in website and social media management and served as the public relations manager for a local chiropractor and author for the past 5 years. She is a Colorado native.
Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Milli Vargas Hilbert and our other new staff members!
Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly
Tuesday, January 16th
CCA is very excited to have Reverend Dr. James Peters, Jr. as our guest speaker at our annual Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly.

Reverend Peters was born in Washington, D.C. and is married to Lorene Lewis Peters of Denver, Colorado. He is the grandfather of 1st grader Judah Peters and the father of Jasper Peters – one of our high level volunteers.

Reverend Peters marched with Dr. King and aided in civil rights efforts along side Dr. King and many other civil rights leaders and activists.

Please join us for this wonderful event .

COLD/INCLEMENT WEATHER Policy
The weather has been so nice out, but at some point, the rain, snow and cold temperatures will come our way!

If the weather is above 22° and it is not actively raining or snowing,
CCA students will be outside for recess!

If it is below 22° and/or actively raining or snowing, students will come inside. On EVEN days, elementary students will go to the cafeteria while middle school students will go to classrooms. On ODD days, elementary students will go straight to their classrooms and middle school students will report to the cafeteria.

Now is also a good time to remind your students to dress appropriately for the day's weather.
January 19th at 7:30 a.m.

COLORADO MATH LEAGUE, Math Competition

Dear CCA Family,

One of our families has been hit with some difficult news. The Bakhrakh family, with son, Lev, who is in 5th grade and daughter, Zoe, in 3rd grade just discovered that their father Peter has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. It is operable and surgery will be performed. We can imagine the difficult times ahead, as they travel the road to recovery. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money to help Peter and his family. If you would like to donate please click on the following link: https://www.gofundme.com/financial-help-for-petr-bakhrakh . Every donation helps no matter the size. Thank you and please join us in keeping Peter and is family in your thoughts in wishing him a speedy recovery.
Yearbook Cover Artwork Contest
The CCA Parent Board wishes everyone in the CCA community a Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break.

The first Board meeting of the new year will be the THIRD Tuesday of the month in January (instead of the "normal" second Tuesday evening). We hope to see you in the Library at 6:pm NEXT Tuesday, January 16.
The Board encouraged ALL CCA Staff and Parents to complete the SAC Survey when it is sent out by the Student Accountability Committee. This is an incredibly effective and comprehensive way for the Board to receive valuable feedback from our community, via the SAC.

The Board wants to remind all parents that it's not too late to fulfull your requirements to run for the Board of Directors this Spring for the 2018 - 2019 school year. In order to qualify, candidates must have attended at least two Board meetings this school year and personally completed at least half of their family's mandatory volunteer hours prior to the election process. You can begin fulfilling these requirements now! See the full Election Policy and list of Eligibility Requirements   HERE . There's no better way to be involved at CCA.

If you're not interested in running for the Board, but would like to be involved, a parent volunteer is needed to sit on the Election Committee. The commitment involves one meeting a month from January through April.

If interested, please contact Jennifer Bailey at  jbailey@cherrycreekacademy.org .

TR AFFIC/SAFETY:
JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.

JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.

JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.

TOURS:
We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. A PTO tour was held on Friday, 9/15. The next tour date will be 12/15 immediately following the PTO meeting. Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!
