Contact:  Allison Mayer   [email protected]  or 310-936-4446
This is a Major Booster Club Fundraiser!!! This Fundraiser began in 2005 with 1 single row and now we are up to as many as 8 rows and going strong!! This fundraiser had brought in more than $100,000 for PVHS students!!! Now that is a "Parting Gift"!!

Repeat: this is a FUNDRAISER - your General Seating at Graduation is FREE and each student receives 6 free tickets. There are no "bad seats" in Senior Park....these reserved seats - just make Graduation Day very easy.

Reserved seating perks include -"padded seats" with your family name on them in a pre- assigned row. 4 Seats come with 1 "VIP parking space"--in the faculty lot. Each family member will be directed to a special VIP Entrance where they will be escorted to their seats. Your Reserved Seating is located directly behind the seated graduates.

Rows 1-3 are SOLD OUT!
Rows 4-8 are available at $100 a seat. A reservation of 4 or more allows you 1 VIP Parking space per family. Dr. Park has a limited amount of spaces to offer so when we are done with parking we cannot offer additional spaces beyond this number. If you want seats that come with parking...reserve them now!! .

REMEMBER you don't have to buy seats ....this is a wonderful convenience for those that prefer reserved seating and want to make a donation to our "FANTABULOUS" school.
Your donation is tax deductible. There will be a blurb in the Senior Graduation Packet --that normally comes out after Spring Break. There will be other continuous reminders for you down the road.
Contact Allison Mayer  [email protected]  or 310-936-4446 if you have any questions!
Congrats on your senior. Go Sea Kings!!!

PVIT Competition Season Update!

PVIT has been a whirlwind of competitions for the past couple months.  Here is an update on our busy competition season!

The First Robotics team competed in both the Long Beach and Orange County Regional competitions. The team designed and built an impressive robot that included a climbing mechanism that allowed the robot to climb a rope and lift its entire 100+ pound chassis up to 5 feet off the ground, a ball shooter that swept up balls and shot them into a goal, and a mechanism that caught and delivered gear shaped objects around the large arena.  The team improves and learns so much at each competition, and year-to-year, and these two regionals were no different.

The Robomagellan team took home a 3rd place medal at the 2017 Robogames, the Mad Max of robotics competitions. "Monty', the robot, traversed the course autonomously using only GPS coordinates to guide it. As the only team of high school students, the team brought home a great 3rd Place medal that they earned along side two adult engineers who took 1st and 2nd Place.

The Underwater ROV team took First Place at the MATE Regional competition for the 4th year in a  row. Although the competition was tight, the team was able to qualify for the MATE International competition in June by winning this regional event. This year's theme is centered around the Port of Los Angeles activity

The Rocketry team had an incredible trip to TARC, the largest rocketry competition in the world, and finished 26th out of over 800 original teams this year.  More impressively, they took home the Best Rocket Craftsmanship award, that honored the best design of all the rockets at the competition.

This weekend, the Solar Cup team is braving the 95 degree heat at the Solar Cup competition at Lake Skinner, near Temecula. The team is having a true engineering experience with break-downs, equipment problems, etc, but are dealing with it like true engineers. Results still pending....

Thank you to ALL of the AMAZING mentors that help PVIT students experience and learn engineering every day.  It would be impossible to have so many teams and such great results if it wasn't for their passion and dedication.

Student Athletes-- Don't forget to request your transcripts!

Juniors and seniors who are planning to play a sport in college need to be registered with the eligibility center, and request transcripts be sent at the end of this year. Juniors need to pay for transcripts to be sent, and can pick up a transcript request form from the counseling office. Once paid, place the forms in Ms. Lichter's box and transcripts will be sent electronically.

Seniors do not need to pay for final transcripts to be sent, but do need to make sure they're on the list. Seniors can confirm this with Mrs. Stevenson in the counseling office. Any questions about NCAA related concerns, please direct to Ms. Lichter.

Sea King Wellness -- Be Balanced & Love Life

Senior Seminar Tomorrow:

Every year the counseling staff plans a senior seminar prior to graduation in an effort to educate our students about important topics that may impact them after high school.

This year we will be showing two videos to the seniors on Monday, May 22rd during 1st period. Below is a brief description of each video.

The Hunting Ground - http://www.thehuntinggroundfilm.com/

The Hunting Ground is a documentary film about the incidence of sexual assault on college campuses in the United States and what its creators say is a failure of college administrations to deal with it adequately.

Are you a current sophomore or junior (or know one) who...
  • is enthusiastic and friendly
  • wants to help welcome incoming freshman
  • has a positive attitude
  • respects diverse ideas and personalities
  • is willing to take risks
Students and Parents, I'm excited to announce that Link Crew is looking for the leaders of the future. Link Crew is a nationwide program that helps freshmen enter high school with successful advice and help. We also provide activities to foster a positive school environment for everyone. You must be a current sophomore or junior to apply. If you think you could be a leader, get an application from http://pvhs.pvpusd.net/apps/pages/student-life-link-crew Miss Klabe in room 316 or email: [email protected]. Applications are due by Tuesday, May 23rd at 3pm.

Need more info? Stop by Miss Klabe's class anytime!

Some info about Link Crew: Leader trainings are mandatory and will be held August 17th and 18th OR August 19th and 20th. Orientation is August 22nd. More information available on the application.
Link Crew is a high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, Link Crew trains members of the junior and senior classes to be Link Leaders. As positive role models, Link Leaders are motivators, leaders and teachers who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school and help facilitate freshman success.
More and more studies show that if students have a positive experience their first year in high school, their chance for success increases dramatically. The Link Crew high school transition program provides the structure for freshmen to receive support and guidance from juniors and seniors who have been through the challenges that high school poses, and understand that the transition to a larger school can sometimes be overwhelming.
Link Crew begins with a powerful orientation day that makes freshmen excited and proud to be attending their new high school and allows them to begin developing relationships and strategies that will contribute to their high school success.

PVHS Arts, Academics, and Athletic Programs:  Improved Dance Facilities Fundraiser 2017

Let's come together as a community! Four hundred PVHS students, including those in Choreo, Song, Cheer, Intermediate Dance, Musical Theater, Drama, Jazz Band, Color Guard, Yoga, P.E. Dance, school clubs, and various academic programs utilize the dance facilities every day for training, preparation, and education. Rehearsals for pep rallies, shows, sports, and theatrical productions are also held in the dance facilities.

PVHS requires updated, properly sprung dance floors to ensure a safe and appropriate training environment. The sprung floors will help decrease injuries resulting from the poor condition of our existing floors which were installed in 1961. The estimated cost to upgrade the facilities is $60,000.00 and our goal is to complete this project no later than July 2017.

The PVHS Booster Club has generously contributed $12,500.00 with an additional $30,000.00 from the District and School Site Funds. $2,500.00 has been raised to date, and an additional $15,000.00 must still be raised to support this project. To reach our fundraising goal, we would appreciate $100.00 or more per family, but any donation will make a difference. Thank you for making great things happen at PVHS!
