New SHS Book Review - Management on the Mend by John Toussaint
 
Management on the Mend is a follow up to Dr. John Toussaint's 2010 book, On the Mend: Revolutionizing Healthcare to Save Lives and Transform the Industry. Our member Jordan Aronhalt has given us a great perspective of Dr. Toussaint's management practices by linking the content of the book to the lean management practices at Main Medical Center.   See the review here.

How the Social Determinants of Health Impact Population Wellness

Moody's Analytics performs analysis utilizing Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Index dataset. This data set comprising of 40 million commercially insured members finds five conditions that are responsible for 30 percent of adverse health of this population. Those conditions are: depression, anxiety and other mood disorders; hypertension; diabetes; high cholesterol; and substance use disorders. Moody analyzed this major conditions against socioeconomic, demographic, behavioral and health system factors driving impact in different counties across the nation.
