EBCBOR Members at Capitol Hill

EBCBOR members, led by Federal Political Coordinators (FPC) Randy Ketive and Robert Oppenheimer, NJ Realtors President met this past Wednesday and Thursday with members of Congress: Josh Gottheimer, Bill Pascrell, Albio Sires and their staff to discuss some of the most important issues for New Jersey; among the topics discussed were Tax Reform, NFIP and to Protect Sustainable Homeownership. Members of Congress were reminded that tax reform must not dilute the current real estate tax provisions vital to the housing market and the economy. They were also reminded of NFIP expiring September 30th of this year and were urged to pass the multiyear reauthorization with needed private market reforms in order to avoid adding uncertainty to the real estate market. Our members also discussed the importance of having modern mapping technology to produce building-specific risk assessment. Lastly, our members asked our members of Congress to protect sustainable home ownership by responsibly reforming the secondary mortgage market to ensure that the qualified borrowers have access to safe, affordable mortgage financing. They were asked to ban the use of g-fees to offset the cost of legislation unrelated to housing by supporting H.R. 916 the "Risk Management and Homeownership Stability Act". VIEW TALKING POINTS
