ST. PHILIP PAGES AND BLOGS
Principal Notes

Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  It was fun to see our student's sleepy but happy faces this morning.  The nice long Christmas break was wonderful but it's nice to be back with our students too.

My grandmother passed away on January 5.  She was just a month or so shy of 106 years old.  The last few months had been difficult for her and we knew her time was near but death is shocking to the human spirit.  We want those we love to be with us forever.  I am grateful for my Catholic faith which allows me to trust that my grandma is with our Lord in heaven.

My grandmother was a strong presence in my life. She was the fun one, the one who took us on little day trips and out for special treats.  I am one of ten children and a special treat with grandma was a big deal.  She was also a teacher and I spent many summer days helping her to set up her classroom. She inspired me to want to teach because I honestly thought that setting up a classroom was the best possible way to spend a summer day. I loved her dearly and I'm sad at her passing but I'm happy to know she is with her husband, her son, and all of those who passed before her.  I know that I will see her again.

Here at St. Philip the Apostle School we are fostering in our students the gift of faith that will, hopefully, profoundly impact their lives.   Our faith allows us to grieve and also rejoice in eternal life at the same time. This month we celebrate Catholic education during Catholic Schools Week, January 29 to February 2. During this week we will have some fun spirit days but also participate in activities that celebrate our faith. St. Philip the Apostle School only exists because of our faith.  It is good to remember that we are a Catholic school.  We are excited to celebrate this during Catholic School Week.

Happy New Year!
May 2018 be a year of strong faith and peace.

Jennifer

SCRIP SCOOP
Happy New Year!

December Scrip Sales were AMAZING! Our families purchased a total of 8,208 gift cards of which 6,986 were either ScripNow! or reloads. Many of you are close to meeting your rebate minimum of $150 or have exceeded it. Way to go!

Did you know...
Buying Scrip Can Reduce Your Tuition:
For Scrip purchases above your $150.00 rebate, 50% above will go towards your general fee reduction at the end of the year. Many families take advantage of this opportunity and pay little or no general fees in June!

For Example:
If you earn $200.00 in scrip rebates, $150.00 + $25.00 goes to the school,
and $25.00 is applied towards your General Fees. The more rebates you earn, the lower your general fees can be at the end of the school year.
*No cash or scrip value and must be redeemed by June 2018.
*Does not apply to graduating, non-returning families.

For scrip questions, please email [email protected]
