Local Company Chosen To Revitalize Long Reach Village Center
Long Reach Village Center is finally on the path to revitalization! Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman and members of the Long Reach Village Center Evaluation Committee just announced Ellicott City based Orchard Development Corporation (Orchard) as the proud new owners of the property and the team that will be responsible for resuscitating the ailing center.
Orchard, with a winning bid of $2.5 million, is proposing a completely new look, feel and function for the Village Center. Plans are laid out for a village green, a community space with a pavilion, retail & office spaces, a food incubator, a vertical garden, and parking for nearly 1,000 vehicles.
The Village Center will also include 132 units of market-rate multi-family housing, 120 units of senior multi-family housing and 52 for-sale town homes.
Orchard's proposal is set for Planning Board review on May 18th and would then move to the County Council for approval. Orchard says they plan to have first use of the property in the first half of 2020.
