Entrepreneurship in Focus at Centralina WDB NEXGEN Council Meeting 
The Centralina NEXGEN Council held an impactful meeting on Thursday, April 4, 2017 at Rowan-Cabarrus CC South Campus in Concord.  The meeting had over 50 individuals in attendance.  Some of those in attendance consisted of NEXGEN council members, NEXGEN contracting staff and young adults from the Resource Development Center (RDC--Stanly), Iredell Community Action Research and Evaluation, Inc. (I-CARE--Iredell & Lincoln counties), Union County Community Action (UCCA--Anson & Union counties), and the Salisbury-Rowan Community Action Agency (SRCAA--Rowan & Cabarrus counties). Read the Story

The Competitive Workforce Alliance Allied Health Regional Skills Partnership along with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College held a conjoined Health Science Career Pathways Symposium on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Kannapolis City Hall (NCRC).  The purpose of the Career Pathway Symposium was geared towards high school educators, higher education, health care providers, and local workforce development boards. Centralina NEXGEN Customer Goes from Homelessness to Employed
Keyairrah Price enrolled in Centralina WDB funded WIOA NexGen Services November 8, 2016 at the Resource Development Center (RDC) in Stanly County. Prior to enrolling, Keyairrah moved from Delaware with family not really knowing what North Carolina was going to bring her although she had a clear career path, but didn't know how to jump start it here.  Ultimately, she wanted to be a social worker and child advocate.   Read the Story
Dennis Jenkins relocated from California seeking opportunities previously denied due to a lack of experience and the extremely high tuition cost to enroll in Electrical Lineman training. Shortly after the transition to North Carolina, Dennis was involved in a car accident that resulted in short-term disability. After the medical release, Dennis enrolled and received Electrical Lineman and Flagger certification from Forsyth Technical Community College in November 2016.      Read the Story

The Rowan-Cabarrus Community College board of trustees, staff and faculty recently gathered with North Carolina Research Campus representatives, the mayor of Kannapolis and community residents to discuss the future of Kannapolis. 
Rowan Picks Ohio Man to Lead Eco-Devo Effort 
Rod Crider, who leads economic development in Wooster, Ohio, is the new president and CEO of RowanWorksHe takes the post left vacant when  Robert Van Geons  departed Rowan County at the end of 2016.  Van Geons is CEO of the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corp. in North Carolina.

Lincoln Agency Hires New Existing-Business Manager 

The Lincoln Economic Development Association has hired John Dancoff as its new existing-business manager. Dancoff, who was already in the Lincoln County area as a manager in local industry, takes the spot left vacant with the promotion of Kara Brown to business-development manager at LEDA.  Read the Story
