Dear Lake Forest Parents and Community Members,

Four of our community members were sworn in to four-year terms on the Lake Forest District 115 Board of Education on Monday, May 1 - Sally Davis, David Lane,
Ted Moorman, and Tomas Nemickas. They join Lise Eliot, Diana Kreiling, and Reese Marcusson who were elected to serve in 2015. The following Board positions were nominated and approved at the meeting: President Reese Marcusson, Vice President David Lane, and Secretary Ted Moorman.

Meet our Newly Elected Board Members

Sally Davis is a lawyer with SC Johnson, where she
counsels the business teams for brands like Glade®, OFF!®
and Ziploc®. She and her son, Emmet, have lived in our community since 2002 and Emmet currently is a Junior at
Lake Forest High School.

In 2015, Sally was appointed by the District 115 School
Board to fill a vacant seat. She currently is the Board's liaison
to ED-RED, the District's Illinois legislative association, where she represents the District's interests in the Illinois legislature's efforts to address school financial issues such as pension funding, proposed property tax caps, and equitable distribution of school funds. She also is a member of the Board's Education Committee.

A native of Cincinnati, Sally earned her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University and her law degree from Boston University. She began her career as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals, then worked as a litigator with firms in Chicago and New York. She is the Advancement Chair for Boy Scout Troop 46 chartered by First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, where her son is a Life Scout. She also is the Student Recognition Chair for APPLAUSE, the booster organization for students in the LFHS Music Department.

David Lane has been re-elected to the Lake Forest High School District 115 Board of Education after having been elected in 2015 to serve a 2-year term.  Dave moved to Lake Bluff from California in 2005 with his wife and children.  Dave's two boys, Ethan and Joshua, are freshmen at the high school and his daughter, Sophia, attends Lake Bluff Elementary School.

As president and chief operating officer of Terlato Wines, Dave leads a team of nearly 150 professionals for the Terlato Wines luxury portfolio of more than 80 brands. Dave is a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee, graduating with a BS degree in Biology.  He earned his MBA degree in Marketing and International Business from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business in Chapel Hill, NC.  He remains involved at his undergraduate institution, Florida State University, where he is currently serving as the Chair Elect of the FSU Foundation Board of Trustees.

In addition to his current District 115 Board role, he is an active member of the Union Church of Lake Bluff and currently serves as the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 42.  Dave is excited about his re-election and looks to build on his corporate and board experience to "bring composed but firm guidance to the district," remaining of the opinion that "the school is on the right track but needs to remain steadfast through clear organizational direction and fiscal responsibility."  Utilizing his background in finance, Dave is committed to continuing to make fiscally responsible decisions during his tenure on the board, such as the recent decision to restructure debt to save taxpayer dollars.

Robert "Ted" Moorman is a lifelong resident of Lake Forest, moving here in 1959 with his parents and six siblings.  He
spent most of his time on Washington Circle where his parents still reside.

Ted attended Lake Forest schools including Sheridan School, Gorton School, Deer Path, LFHS and after graduation, attended CLC for two years, then transferred to the University of Illinois, graduating in 1982 with a degree in Accounting.

In 1982, he entered the United States Air Force and attended Officer Training School (OTS) and then entered Air Force pilot training, graduating in 1984 with pilot wings where he served many assignments in the US military, retiring in 2007 as a Lt. Col. and squadron commander after a medically disabling plane crash.  Ted also is a retired United Airlines Captain, having commanded United Boeing 747's and 777's around the world.  While in the Air Force, he also earned an MBA in Finance from Cal State University in 1986.

Ted has served in the United States Air Force Reserve for over 15 years and has also spent many years (and continues to serve) in the LF/LB Lions, serving in a variety of leadership roles.  He currently serves on the LFHS Board, serving the past two years as Secretary of the Board.  Additionally, he serves as a board member of the NSSED Board of Directors, representing LFHS on this consortium board.  Ted also serves as the board member on the NSSED Foundation Board.

Tomas Nemickas, M.D. is an orthopedic surgeon who has been in practice with Illinois Bone and Joint Institute (IBJI) in Lake Forest for the past 14 years. He specializes in shoulder, hip and knee injuries, having earned his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois, Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine and attaining a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Tom served as a past member of the Executive Board, the Board of Directors, as well as Vice Chairman of the Operations and Technology Committee of IBJI.

A native of the Chicago area, he was raised in Riverside, IL, and attended St. Ignatius College Prep. After obtaining a BS in Physics from Georgetown University, he
returned to the Chicagoland area for medical school and residency, relocating to
Lake Forest in 2002.

He and his wife Elizabeth are raising three children in the community and its schools. They have been actively involved in both the District 67 and District 115 School Districts over the past 14 years. He is currently a parent of a senior daughter and sophomore son at Lake Forest High School. He believes his fair-minded management approach will be an asset to the board. He gathers and assimilates data using an integrated analytical approach to reach a consensus opinion that can be supported by all of the coalition.

Retiring Board Member

One board member, John Powers, was bid a fond farewell during a retirement celebration at the meeting on May 1. District 115 appreciates his dedicated service to our students, staff, and community.

Sincerely,

Michael V. Simeck
