HIGH SCHOOL
23 Iyar 5777 / May 19, 2017                      Parshas Beha-Bechukosai

LOCAL RABBONIM DELIEVER PRE-PESACH SHIURIM
Before Pesach, Rabbi Moshe Heinemann gave his annual shiur to the high school about various hilchos Pesach and related divrei Torah. Rabbi Moshe Hauer also spoke to the 12th grade about some fascinating aspects to the Hagadah .
DISCOVERY - THE GIFT OF REDEMPTION
On Rosh Chodesh Nissan, Discovery launched a unique technology awareness program. Mrs. Rabenstein spoke to the girls about the incredible powers and benefits of technology, and how at the same time we must raise our awareness of how it affects our relationships with others. The students then viewed a powerful video that portrayed a beautiful song about a few girls who embraced "the gift of redemption" by learning that true friendships can really only form through speech. Every girl in the high school received a special calendar for the month of Nissan. For each day of the month, the girls had a chance to earn up to 3 checks for things such as keeping an hour long technology-free machsom, not using social media, texting or WhatsApp for an entire day. At the end of the month, girls who participated were entered into an exciting raffle and were eligible to go on a special trip to ZavaZone!! The girls' enthusiasm for this wonderful program was truly uplifting and inspiring.

READ-A-THON
Bais Yaakov High School recently launched an exciting read-a-thon, encouraging the girls to read.   Every  girl received a "passport" to keep track of how many hours and pages they read, which they can then log into the school computer. Everyone who participates is entered into an exciting raffle with really great prizes.

THE ROSH YESHIVA SPEAKS
In honor of Discovery's closing activity theme of Kavod HaTorah, the high school was privileged to hear from Rav Aharon Feldman, shlit"a, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel, who spoke about the importance, honor and prestige of Torah

STUDENT SHABBOS
On May 13th, Parshas Emor, the high school held its annual Student
Shabbos. Over the course of Shabbos, the girls learned all about developing their potential. The guest speaker was Mrs. Toba Shifrin of Brooklyn, an extremely captivating speaker whom the girls enjoyed tremendously. Throughout the
Shabbos, the girls were treated to various workshops and shiurim delivered by the high school's dedicated teachers who came to join us for Shabbos. In addition, our own high school girls shared divrei Torah and made various presentations. The food for the three seudos, the kiddush and onegs, was all scrumptious and beautifully arranged, thanks to the girls' hard work. On Motzei Shabbos, the girls enjoyed a bonfire in honor of Lag Ba'omer. We would like to thank the G.O. for their hard work in producing such a meaningful Shabbos.
