Supper is $5 per person / $20 max. / No charge for children 3-years-old and under.

THE ALTAR flowers are given to the Glory of God and in loving memory of Betsy Harper Shelander, Mary Banks and Gwyn Harper, and Dorothy and Neal Vason by Lee Harper, Katie, Fin and Wayne Vason; and of Raoul Ilaw by Barbara Culmer Ilaw and family.
New Time and Place for Peace in Our Time
Join us Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the Garden for our monthly prayer service. We gather the third Sunday each month to pray together for an end to gun violence and terrorism. Beginning this month and during the summer, we will gather for prayers for peace in the Garden following the 11:15 a.m. service.
If you are not able to make it to St. Luke's on a Sunday morning, we are now broadcasting live via the Internet at 9 a.m.  Just click here.

You can also access the broadcast each week from links on the St. Luke's website and our Facebook page.
Opportunities & Announcements

Music Associate to begin June 12

St. Luke's has hired a new staffer. Caitlin Dowling brings a wealth of talent and experience with her - and spunk: she begins working at St. Luke's during VBS! "I am excited to join in ministry with St. Luke's," says the Mercer grad.  There will be more about Caitlin in the June 1 Shepherd's Voice.
The Rite of Holy Baptism
Monday is the deadline for baptisms on Pentecost, Sunday, June 4. If you wish to have your child baptized, or are an adult prepared for baptism, please contact Michelle Jemmott at 404-873-7616 or michelle@stlukesatlanta.org by May 22.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Our refugee family is settling into their new home  and life in America. They are grateful to St. Luke's for pulling it all together!  The committee now needs help in a more "relational" way - volunteers are needed to take the family on errands and/or for weekend outings so they get to know their new community.  If you can help, please contact Allison Ezell at allisonezell@yahoo.com or 404-584-7323.
Basket

Fill the Outreach Baskets
In May we are collecting Kroger gift cards, paper plates, plastic or paper cups (6 or 8 oz.), and plastic spoons and forks for the Greater Fortress Summer Camp. Greater Fortress is a church of about 35 active members that serves between 50-75 neighborhood children and youth each summer. Please place your donations in the Outreach baskets located in the Narthex and the Reception Area.

Bring friends and join us Sunday, May 28 when we will have a combined service at 10 a.m. in The Park. The 8 a.m. Holy Eucharist gathers, as usual, in the Nave. Following Mass on the Grass will be our annual potluck picnic. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair - and a side dish or dessert to share. St. Luke’s will supply Clyde’s Famous Fried Chicken and pulled pork.

The St. Francis Guild will be selling reusable water bottles at Mass on the Grass. The bottles are stainless steel and have the  St. Luke’s logo  on them.
Blessing of the Bikes
Get a little extra protection to go with your bike helmet this summer. Bring your bike (or ride it) to Mass on the Grass and get it blessed.
Join the grill team  Saturday afternoon May 27, beginning at 3 p.m., for fun in The Park. In preparation for the barbeque lunch following Mass on the Grass, we will spend all day Saturday roasting pork. Feel free to come to The Park at St Luke’s to hang out and enjoy good company. Our chefs will need company while they pull an all-nighter to make sure that our pork is just right for Sunday lunch.

Faith and Film gathers on Friday, June 9  at 7 p.m. to watch Lady in the Van, writer Alan Bennett’s true story of Miss Shepherd (played by Maggie Smith), a woman of uncertain origins who “temporarily” parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. What begins as a begrudged favor becomes a relationship that will change both their lives. Faith and Film is a monthly opportunity for St. Luke’s adults to share a movie, snacks, fellowship,  and a lively discussion of issues of faith raised by the film. Those who attend bring a snack to share and a beverage. All St. Luke’s adults are welcome. For location, contact Donna Church (404-522-3889 | dchurch@mindspring.com).

Did you know the last week of the month is "hunger week" in America?

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry calls for fasting on the 21st of each month through December 2018, at which time the 115th Congress will conclude. The 21st of each month is targeted because by that time each month, 90% of SNAP (formerly food stamp) benefits have been used, thereby causing the last week of the month as the hungry week in America. The fast will launch with a group of national and local leaders doing a three-day fast together May 21-23.  Here's Bishop Curry explaining the call:
The Episcopal Church joins Thy Kingdom Come campaign
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement which the Archbishop of Canterbury is inviting people around the world to join. The wave of prayer will start in May 25 and run for 10 days between the Christian festivals of Ascension and Pentecost. It's not complicated - we're simply asking people to pray in whatever way they want and with whoever they want for others to come to know Jesus Christ.

Pledge2Pray kicked off on May 5sign-up to participate here.

Prayer resources for individuals, congregations and/or families can be downloaded at no fee  here.

After pledging to pray, be a part of the Let the Light shine social media campaign by posting a photo or video holding a candle or tealight, and pledging to pray.   #Pledge2Pray
