COMMITTEE CORNER: COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

On behalf of the communications committee, we hope that "The Link" newsletter has been a fulfilling and informative read for you. As CREW DC members, we understand that it is difficult to understand everything that is going on within our organization. After all, so much is happening on a monthly basis. CREW DC has many of its members volunteering their efforts on its behalf that it is difficult to keep track of what is happening. That is where our committee comes in. The communications committee has a designated liaison per each committee to ensure we are in the know about what is happening so we can effectively communicate these activities to our members. These liaisons include:

* Board - Angela Poliskey, Cushman & Wakefield
* Community Action - Laura Roth, Hickok Cole Architects
* CREW EDU - Christina Keitt
* CREW Network Liaison - Ashley Atwater, MBB Affiliates, LLC
* Finance - Natalie Miller, James G. Davis Construction Corporation
* Member Services - Katie Chowdhry, PNC Bank
* Membership - Karen Widmayer, KW Communications
* Programs - Robin Holt
* Special Events - Moira Dhaliwal, The Bernstein Companies
* Sponsorship - Grace Burnside, Sudlow Kohlhagen, LLP
* UCREW - Victoria Abbasi, Colliers International
* 35&U - Zeena Hassan, HITT Contracting

Throughout this year, we have dedicated an issue of The Link for every committee. We are thankful for the above individuals' commitment and dedication to ensure we are aware of what is happening. Not only do they participate in the communications committee monthly meetings but their designated liaison committee monthly meetings as well.

If we aren't communicating about a luncheon held by the programs committee, we are advertising the golf and/or upcoming awards event held by Special Events, or a 35&U happy hour event, or a volunteer effort through Community Action, or a special member-only event held by Member Services. So much is happening via these committees and we want you to be informed so you can choose how best to participate as our valued members.

We are always in need of active committee members for communications so if you have an interest, please feel free to contact the co-chairs of this committee: Robin Holt ([email protected]) or Anastasia Jafari ([email protected]). We also welcome any suggestions and/or comments so please feel free to get in touch with us.

Thank you for reading The Link!

"I got involved with the Communications Committee immediately after joining the chapter six years ago. I have met amazing women that I have learned from, networked with and had fun with! After a couple of years I became a co-chair of the committee, and being on the Executive Committee was even more rewarding. Getting involved with the Communications Committee in any form is a great way to learn about the inner workings of the chapter because you inherently need to know what's going on with the other committees and the chapter in general." - Katie Chowdhry, PNC Real Estate

"Getting involved with the Communications Committee allowed me to meet women in a collaborative and welcoming environment, especially when I was new and didn't know many of the members. Our Committee has exposure to many different facets of the organization which has allowed me to seek out networking and career building opportunities that I may not have been aware of otherwise. The women I am surrounded by are professional, motivated and supportive and it has been a great asset to my career and personal growth." - Zeena Hassan, HITT Contracting
