Service:  Hike with FTR for Suicide Prevention Month

For one day we will not walk in our heads, but with dirty feet and open hearts for a cause which affects so many of us. Come join us as we break the silence, and the stigma. Come walk gently for those we have lost.

Please join us on Saturday May 20th @ 1 pm at the Secret Lake Trail in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

In memory of Nicholas Zurn, for whom an FTR scholarship fund is named, and on behalf of Mental Health Awareness month, please join us for this important community building event. We have said goodbye to many friends this year, please spread the word and let this hike be a display of how we love and  honor them.  Let our pain be exhaled into hope across the mountains. Please contact Rachel Santizo @ 385-414-7174 for more info.
Creative Arts Teams up with Service to paint local Murals

Sarah Kappos and Rachel Santizo at Glendale mural in progress and designed by teens.
"Art has the power to either divide us by creating an elite system, or bring us together in a common expression."  ~Sarah Kappos (Creative Arts Director FTR)

In collaboration with our neighbors at Glendale Middle school, FTR is painting two murals this spring. In cooperation with Salt Lake City Corp. and local artist Justin Johnson, a 200 foot mural will be painted along the Jordan River trail.  This is a project open to students, and it will run along the trail which they walk to school.  The Latinos in Action seek to empower local teens.  These ambitious students designed the intended mural under the guidance of FTR's Sarah Kappos and their teacher Dane Hess.

Rachel Santizo coordinated with the Ambassadors at Odyssey house to paint another mural also designed by students at Glendale Middle school.  As they painted, Odyssey house residents discussed their surprise at how good painting feels.  They also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be of service to the students and to the community.

Paint Nite this month is May 22nd!

FTR Sanctuary Space Dedicated May 13. Please Join us.

Many of us have lost someone dear to substance misuse; someone who touched our lives deeply but for far too briefly a time. On May 13 at noon, please join us in the dedication of FTR's Sanctuary Space, a place for meditation and reflection, hope and renewal. FTR member Matthew Kendall originally initiated this effort to pay tribute to Quinn Prymek (photo), a beloved FTR member who died last year. Matt wants to open the space to anyone who has lost a loved one to addiction and requests that anyone who so desires, write a prayer or memory to place underneath the many flowers that will be available to plant.

Please join us in the healing power of community as we pay tribute to the remarkable people who shared and shaped our lives and will be forever missed.
