Here's what's new on the Pope County 4-H website this month!
Watch your e-mail: Round Robin Showmanship Survey coming out in early January

The Pope County Livestock Committee is evaluating the Round Robin Showmanship Contest at our County Fair and we are looking for input from our 4-H youth membership. E-mail will be sent out in early January to all youth enrolled in a livestock project areas to complete the survey, please respond by January 15th.

Watch for Market Beef ID information to be sent in early January

All youth participating in the Market Beef or Dairy Steer project areas will need to identify their market animals in 4hOnline by Thursday, February 15th.

All new 4-H members are invited to New Member Day

New 4-H members and their families are invited to attend New Member Day on January 21st from 2-4 pm at the Pope County Courthouse.

There is still time to help design the next Pope County 4-H T-shirt

Looking for your help to design the next Pope County 4-H T-shirt. The Pope County 4-H Leaders Council has been discussing options over the past few months and would like to get additional input on designs. Submit your design to the Extension Office by January 26th (or bring to the Council meeting on January 28th).

January Youth Leaders meeting has been scheduled

Youth in grades 6 and up are invited to attend the Pope County 4-H Youth Leader's Meeting on January 21st from 2-4 pm at the Pope County Court House in the Community Room.


Mark your calendars for important meetings on January 28th

January 28th is THE day for meetings about the Pope County 4-H Program. All meetings will be held at the Pope County Court House Community Room. Livestock Committee will meet from 3-5 p.m. followed by the Food Stand Committee from 5-6 p.m., and ending the night with Leaders Council at 6:00 p.m.

Registration for the 2018 Morris Regional 4-H Camp is set to open February 1st

All youth in grades 3-6 are invited to the 2018 Regional 4-H Camp scheduled for June 19th-21st in Morris.

More 4-H news this month
The 2018 Building Leadership & Understanding (BLU) leadership retreats will be held in five different locations across the state during the month of February. BLU is a great opportunity for youth in 6th grade and above to meet youth from across their region and learn about leadership too!

4-H Camp Counselors are needed for for the 2018 Regional 4-H Camp scheduled for June 19th-21st in Morris. Must be 7th grade or older to apply.

An exciting day is being planned on Saturday, February 24th from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at SMSU, Marshall. This is open to all 4-H screened adult volunteers!
 
The 2018 Southwest Animal Science Challenge will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, in Wabasso, Minnesota. This event will include horse and livestock project bowl competitions, hands-on skill-a-thon stations, and workshops on a variety of topics. 4-H'ers can attend as a project bowl team, or as an individual
 
Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman celebrates the connection between 4-H and healthy choices in young people. Two 4-H members' stories are featured and you're invited to share your own healthy living story.
 
Minnesota 4-H youth in grades 9-13 are invited to strengthen their communication, leadership, and citizenship skills at a national level by attending Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. from June 23-30, 2018. Registration will open Feb. 1, and close when all spaces have been filled, or by Feb. 28, whichever comes first.
 
Starting in 2018 the 4-H Engineering Design Rube Goldberg Challenge will include high school youth in grades 9 to one year after high school. The 2018 challenge will be to "plant a seed and water the seed".
 
Jerry Ludwig has been chosen as Minnesota's 4-H Salute to Excellence Outstanding Lifetime Volunteer.
 
Crissy Otting has received the Minnesota 4-H Salute to Excellence Volunteer of the Year Award.
