Beat the Heat with Fun Indoor Activities for You and Your Dog

The heat is on in Arizona and it's going to get hotter very fast. That means it's more dangerous for your dogs to engage in outdoor activities. Excessive heat can have adverse effects on your dog and sometimes be fatal. Since we have a long summer ahead of us, it's important to get creative for fun indoor activities to keep you and your dog busy.

It's Pool Time! Ensure Your Dog's Safety in the Water

From the pool, to lakes and the beach, summer is a great time for swimming. Contrary to what some believe, not every dog can swim, nor does every dog love water. Here's some great tips on swimming and keeping your dog safe in any body of water, according to " Dogs and Water Safety ," at WebMD.

Employee of the month: Robert Anderson, Lead Guest Service Attendant

Rob Anderson has two main responsibilities at Second Home Pet Resort, with each ensuring that pets receive the best care. As Guest Service Attendant, "I am in charge of the safety, the experience, and maintaining the welfare and care of the animals," he said. As Lead, he also is a middle manager who helps ensure everything runs smoothly.

After working at an animal rescue, he moved over to Second Home 6 ½ years ago when a position became available.

Rob especially enjoys spending one-on-one time with the dogs and working on the videos of the animals that are posted to Facebook. "I enjoy putting them together and getting feedback and hearing that people enjoy those," he said.

A great part of his job is that he gets to bring his two rescue dogs to work. He also enjoys the variety of the days. "It's never the same thing," he said. "I have the same job but I'm never dealing with exactly the same dogs. I never get bored and never get tired of it.

"Nobody does this just to have a job," Rob said. "They do it because there's a reason; they care about animals."
