Pastor's Message
Dear Friend in Faith,
It’s no secret we live in a fractious time. I cannot remember experiencing a more divided society than the one in which we presently live. These divisions work their way into our families, our friendships, the workplace, our church life. We sometimes wonder, “How can the church hold together?” In the Gospel of John, Jesus prayed that his followers would be one. Jesus seemed to know this would be a challenge for the emerging church and its subsequent leaders. In fact, throughout the New Testament there are regular appeals to unity. This raises an important question: How can the church be one?
Unity is a fascinating challenge for us. Each time we celebrate the Lord’s Supper we conclude our prayer with these helpful words, “Make us one with Christ, one with each other and one in ministry to all the world....

A Message from Bishop Bob
Bishop Robert Hoshibata of the Desert Southwest Conference recently shared that an expected ruling later this month by the Judicial Council, the Supreme Court of the UMC, will either find the election of Bishop Karen Oliveto by the Western Jurisdictional Conference valid or not. The bishops of the Western Jurisdiction stand with Bishop Oliveto, and believe that her election, consecration (here at PVUMC) and assignment to lead the Mountain Sky Area is valid. More information will be shared following the announcement of the Council’s ruling. Bishop Bob has asked our congregation to: "...hold Bishop Oliveto in prayer along with the laity and clergy of the Mountain Sky Area, members of the Judicial Council, and all those who will speak their heart before the Judicial Council as it meets on April 25."
NOTE:
Childcare is available with a 48-hour reservation for all our
events and classes on campus. Call 602.840.8360, ext 134.
