April 2017
Next Parent Council Meeting:

Tuesday May 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the school library.

All are welcome!!
Dear ,
O Behalf of the CSPC we hope you and your family had a blessed Easter Weekend!

At the April 4th CSPC Meeting, a number of guests attended to discuss various items with the parent council. They included:
  • Oxana Voit, Toronto Public Health discussed how her team help schools identify health issues and how to address them. They offer free parenting programs that can be arranged at the school or at a community center anytime of the year. They also offer free dental care programs to families in need. Immunization reminder - mumps outbreak in Ontario, even adults should check their immunization status.
  • Kimberly Go, Youth Minister at St. Edward Parish introduced the Edge youth program that is launching on April 28 and will run until July. It's a middle school ministry that will be held on Fridays from 7-9 PM. It will include icebreakers, games, catechesis, always with a theme. It will allow the youth to learn more about the faith and develop relationships with children in other schools. They will hopefully build on it with a high school ministry, currently training 15 leaders. The parish is also offering a summer day camp. For more information please click here EDGE Flyer
  • Maili Sedore, Project Lead, City of Toronto came to the meeting to share some information on a new pilot project by the City of Toronto to create more visual public art.

As you can see, each CSPC meeting is unique and various topics are discussed. If you can't come out to a meeting, you can always stay up-to-date with what's going on by accessing the monthly CSPC minutes found on our website: http://stcyrilcspc.org/about/cspc-meeting-minutes/

Other Updates
St. Cyril Green Team
Now that the weather has turned warmer, you may notice that Cedar Green Landscaping is onsite to finish work planting the willow wall adjacent to the school parking lot and schoolyard. This is one of the last items to be completed on the St. Cyril Greening Team's initiative to bring nature to the school yard. Plans are currently underway to get a watering schedule in place to make sure all the new plantings will thrive. We hope that we can get a good number of parents/student involved so that we can ensure that the plants survive.
For more information on how the full project/initiative has progressed, please visit our page on the CSPC website: http://stcyrilcspc.org/committees/greening/

S t. Cyril BBQ Committee (a call for committee volunteers and Silent Auction Items)
The St. Cyril BBQ committee is beginning to plan for the 2017 BBQ that happens in September. The first meeting will be held on April 26th in the school library. A lot of people are needed to make this event happen. No matter how big the contribution, whether it is flipping burgers or organizing games or donating items for the silent auction or game prizes, without that help, the event could not be the success it is year over year. The committee is asking reaching out to you for Silent Auction Items  This could be any unused new item that you have, or it could be tickets to an event or for a service. Maybe you own a business and can donate your service? The items are endless. If you have something in mind but are unsure, OR if you would like to be part of the committee, please contact Patricia Cornejo at

UPCOMING EVENTS:  TCDSB Swim Meet - April 29 &30.

We wish all our swimmers good luck and great fun and thank all the teachers and parents who have made this possible, especially Ms. Leone and Mr. Bernotas and Ms. Rodrigues for all their help.
