IN  THIS ISSUE
On April 26th, around 1,500 students from across the district participated in the third annual Northville STEAM Fair presented by Community Choice Credit Union and funded by Northville Educational Foundation.

This year's event went behind the fun and explored how STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) goes into the creation of games. From calculating angles for an art-inspired putt putt course to coding to mixing up magnetic slime, students had an opportunity to dream up a game, figure out how to create it and then allow others to play it.

Nearly 100 student projects were on display created by teams from as young first grade all the way up to 12th grade. During the morning, every fourth grade student in the district walked through the fair and got to try their hand at many of the games. In the afternoon, every seventh grader in the district took their turn. Some of their favorite games included a marshmallow cannon, life-size angry bird game, the Can You Duplicate the Drawing? game, driving a robot, and "Creative Coloring" the Robotic Way.

In the evening, the event was opened up to all families. The Fair experienced its biggest turnout and attendees had a great time.

Even when a project broke down, the students didn't worry. It was an opportunity for them to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it and improve it.

Northville Educational Foundation is proud to provide funding for this event that helps to take concepts the students are learning in the classroom and connect it to real-life applications in such a fun way. By working with other students on their projects, they developed valuable team-building and problem-solving skills.

NEF would like to thank Northville's teachers for all they do for our students. The programs we support would not be successful without their dedication to implement them and to encourage and inspire our students to shine.

They spend time beyond the classroom continuing to educate themselves to better serve our students, provide additional guidance to students who need some extra help, and research creative ways to help learning come to life for their students.

Mom

Happy Mother's Day! Thank you for preparing your students to learn each day.

"It's not what you do for your children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings."
