Welcome to our monthly newsletter, where we bring you human interest stories, current events and information on Belize!
The Consulate of Belize in Florida is proud to announce that in addition to processing Belizean Passports and Emergency Travel Documents, it is now issuing Identification Cards, facilitating many Belizeans living in Florida with the opportunity to hold an official ID from Belize. Acceptance of these cards at U.S. offices and other institutions, however, depends on their discretion.

Moguel worked his way out of Belize by winning a scholarship to the University of North Florida, where he earned a civil engineering degree in 2007. After working as a Gannett Fleming design engineer for almost nine years, Moguel became a project manager two years ago, serving as the resident engineer on a $5.5-million project.
He showed his versatility on a $1.2-million pump-station project, obtaining a NACE certification so he could install the project's coating system himself, saving his firm $70,000. Moguel, 33, is also helping Gannett Fleming expand into Belize.
Moguel is an active Virginia Water Environmental Association committee member, helping to set policy for stormwater management, planning conferences and volunteering to clean up the Chesapeake Bay. He also volunteers at a local elementary school and sponsors five kindergarten appreciation events each year, providing the children with presents and food at his own expense.

INGREDIENTS 1 cup butter 2 cups sugar 4 eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup eveporated milk 2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 teaspoon lemon extract 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
METHOD:
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour 2 9" round baking pans. In a mixing bowl, beat nutter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each one. Sift flour and making powder and slowly add to the butter minxture, alternating with milk, vanilla and lemon extracts. Beat unit well blended and creamy. Add more milk if necessary. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool completely.
CARAMEL
Remove lable from condensed milk and place can on its side in a pressure cooker with enough water to cover 1 inch above can. Cover and cook on high heat. When pressure cooker starts to hiss, turn heat to medium low and cook for 25 to 30 minutes. It may also be cooked in a pot with boiling water by placing it in the pot with enough water to cover the can. Bring to a rapid boil and cook for 2 hours on medium heat.
Add hot water yo keep can covered while cooking. Discard water and cool can completely before opening. Place 1 on a servinf platter and cover with caramel. Place the other on top and spread caramel on top and sides of cake.

Belizean women making a mark
By BBN Staff: Last year Joyjah Estrada made headlines when she became one of the faces for the UK's Love magazine.
Joyjah, who has more Instagram followers than half of Belize's entire population, is making headlines again.
This time for a modeling gig she signed with the Squad agency which will see her living in London for more than 3 months.
"I just love being in front of the cameras! My favourite part is that you become different versions of yourself, different characters, it excites me," she posted to Facebook.
According to Estrada, it was in 2012 when she did her first photo shoot with Danny Hun in Punta Gorda that she knew she had what it took to become a model.
