Helping Families this Summer

Dear Friends of CAC,
With your support CAC helps neighbors in need, from crisis situations to in-kind support to free adult education to improve life and job skills. Right now you can help local families this coming summer. Families with tight budgets struggle in the summer with increased childcare and food costs when children are home and not receiving free lunches at school. Families also face going back to school expenses for backpacks and school supplies, an average of $50 per child. CAC leverages every dollar you give by utilizing volunteer manpower and wholesale purchasing.  With your support CAC helps about 1,000 children each summer and more than 2,500 families a year! Thank you!

Give Kids Tools for School through CAC!

Together we can help children in need succeed in the classroom by providing them free school supplies. Children of families that struggle financially often go to school without the necessary tools to learn. Studies show that when kids have school supplies of their own, classroom behavior and grades improve, self-esteem strengthens, and kids develop better attitudes toward school and learning. Please help CAC give 900 local children school supplies. When you donate to CAC's Tools for School, your dollar goes further thanks to wholesale purchasing by CAC!
Just $35 provides one new backpack with supplies!
(Retail cost $50 each.)
  •    Select the number of backpacks with supplies you'd like to donate.
  •    Select the school for which you'd like to help students.
  •    CAC custom packs for you school supplies per school and grade requirements!
Holistic Approach to Assistance Improves Lives

Letitica's family moved from out of state to find work and be near family. Working to make ends meet with two young children, the family suffered a setback when they became the victims of financial fraud.  They found CAC to help with their emergency situation so that they could pay rent and stay in their home.  Food, clothing and seasonal items for the children from CAC have helped keep the family afloat in the face of ongoing medical expenses and fluctuating work. Despite the family's financial struggles, Letitica has taken a number of steps to better herself and improve the lives of her family. First she took ESL (English) classes which have enabled her to communicate with her daughter's teachers, help them with homework, and allowed her to take free computer and cooking classes at CAC. With computer skills she can now help her children and also create invoices for her husband's business. From the cooking class she says she learned so much about cooking healthier food for her family. For example, she had never cooked with turkey, but now makes her family hamburgers and other dishes using turkey.  We are proud of Letitica for making efforts to better herself and her family!
  NCL Gives Birthday Cheer

There are so many ways to contribute to CAC and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Claire and her National Charity League Dunwoody chapter class of 2022 recently assembled 40 "birthday bags," a $400 donation. Claire, 13, serves as the philanthropy chair of her group, and pitched the idea. The bags contain cake mix, frosting, paper plates, napkins and a small toy  such as a jump rope or card game.  The birthday bags will be distributed to CAC clients that have children with upcoming birthdays. Thank you NCL class of 2022 for spreading birthday cheer!
