California State Science Fair Winners
Congratulations to AMS 7th graders Clara Mangali and Katie Champion!

At the California State Science Fair held April 24th and 25th Clara's project, Sweet from Glucose to Ethanol,  came in 4th in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology category.

Katie's project, Growing Potatoes without Allergans, came in FIRST PLACE in the Plant Biology category.  Katie is beginning the process of having her project accepted into the National Science Fair.  It is a very selective process and only 30 projects ultimately will be chosen from across the country. Hopefully Katie will be representing California and American Martyrs.

Again, congratulations girls!
2017 Home Tour Pertinent Tidbits
Sophisticated Snoop Home Tour - May 13th-15th

It's hard to believe that just three weeks ago I had lined up only one home.  Then,  ten days later, five more homes miraculously fell out of the sky.  Will wonders never cease!  Read the wonderful descriptions that Catherine Coberly wrote for the ticket and you'll get a preview of how amazing this year's tour will be.

Staffing  - Please check your calendars to see which day and time works best for you and click here to sign up. There will be a special place in my heart for anyone who puts down a 2nd choice.  In scheduling over 240 shifts, it really helps Deb Charlton to have some flexibility. Be assured that whenever possible, we always try to accommodate your 1st choice.  (We like "happy campers").   Note:  A coordinator will contact you after our meeting on Wed, May 4th to confirm the house and time you will be staffing.
There will be a "dad's only" house

Tickets In today's envelope is a manila envelope with 4 tickets.  Each family is only responsible for selling 2 tickets...but we hope that by having 4 tickets in your possession, you might just sell them.  Since the homes this year are "Over the Top", selling these 2 extra tickets will be a breeze. If each family sold the 2 extra tickets, we'd realize $25,000 additional profit by your taking the extra time and effort to sell them.   If you want more than these 4 tickets, you can pick up more in the school office, or email me and we'll send home next week.
Presale donation is $30.00.

You can fulfill your Home Tour commitment & help promote the Home Tour by selling 10 add'tl. tickets.  If you signed up last week to sell tickets in lieu of staffing, your
10 tickets are in today's envelope.  If you sign up now to sell the extra tickets,
the 10 tickets will be sent home in next week's envelope, or you can stop by
the school office and pick them up from Lisa or Anne.

Sunday Mass Sales  - So many of you have asked me what you can do to help out.  So as to not disappoint you I've come up with something and hope I'll hear from you.  All it means is that you would come 10 minutes before and stay for 10-15 minutes after the Mass you attend.  Please text or  email to put a smile on my face.

Sponsors   -  La st week most of yo u wrote a check to your least favorite uncle and are bemoaning the fact that you didn't have more deductions.  Well, I'm giving you a chance to write a check to AMPA to help underwrite our expenses and at the same time reduce the amount you'll give to Uncle Sam next year.  You could donate $200 to help pay for banners, $300 for outdoor carpets, $500 to help defray cost of printing or $1000 for my next spa visit.  Any amount will be most welcome and appreciated.  You'll have my undying gratitude when you send in your check.

POSTER - Stop by  the office and pick up a 10'13' poster to put in the window where you work

POSTCARD SIZE FLYER - In today's envelope is a postcard flyer which is a great way to promote the tour.  Please see my suggestions in "my love note" that I sent home in Wed family envelope or click here to pull it up

E-FLYER -  Click here to pull up this flyer that you can email to everyone you know.

Hope this all makes sense. If not, call or text or email & i'll be happy to confuse you further.

Catholic Schools Night at Dodger Stadium
Ushers/Hospitality Ministers
OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN, MEN, TEENS (AND YOUNGER, TOO):
Can you offer a few minutes of your time and kindness to your parish family?  AMCC needs women, men, younger people, and more people of every kind to assist as ushers/hospitality ministers-
  • to greet people as they arrive at Mass,
  • to be a resource for anyone who may need some assistance while at Mass ,
  • and to assist in the Offertory collection
We especially want to create a larger and more diverse group of ministers, a pool of people willing to serve sometime during the month so no one feels committed every week.   And, the best part: THIS IS EASY!  Help at the Mass you attend.  It's about sharing your enthusiasm, your presence, and your grace with others.  This is a perfect way for families to serve the community

Interested: call Chuck Kilmer or Monica Hughes  or ask any usher!!
