Coco Chanel, Super Woman with Richard Parker
Saturday, May 20th at 2pm
In conjunction with the Narragansett Historical Society, the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library presents local author, Richard Parker who will discuss his book, The Improbable Return of Coco Chanel:  In 1953 Parker, an army veteran who spoke little French, became the assistant to Coco Chanel when she came out of retirement in Switzerland  to help launch the Chanel perfume showroom in New York.  Preregistration preferred. 
GENEAOLGY CLUB

Want to talk to others who are tracing their family trees? Have you attended workshops but not started yet? Come to our club and get started. Gather to use library resources and exchange tips with fellow researchers. This is a collegial group, with no designated leader. Some laptops will be available to use, if needed but USB drives are recommended to save information. Please sign-up.

TED is a nonpartisan nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics - from science to business to global issues - in more than 110 languages.  TED talks are a way to explore interesting and innovative ideas by listening to passionate and committed proponents.  The library is offering a way for patrons to view, share and discuss the powerful concepts involved on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at 1pm. DATES: 2nd and 4th Thursdays

News from the Friends of the Library
 

 
The Friends of the Narragansett Library will hold the Annual Meeting and election of officers on Monday, May 1 at 12 noon. The meeting will be a pot-luck luncheon, with set-up beginning at 11:45 a.m. New members are welcome, as well as anyone interested in learning more about the Friends and what the group accomplishes for the library. You do not need to bring a food item to attend the meeting. For more information, contact Mary Ann Grintchenko, president, at [email protected].

The Friends are looking for volunteers to help set up for the annual Book Sale. Volunteers are needed to help set up books Monday-Thursday, June 5-8. Volunteers do not need to be members of the Friends group. If you would like to help, please send an email to Mary Ann Grintchenko at [email protected]. Include your name and times you would like to volunteer. The Book Sale is one of the major fundraisers that allow the Friends to support many programs and events at the library. Thank you to all for your support.
