On the blog - ASD awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month. All month long, organizations have been recognizing the month in their own ways - landmarks all over the world have been lighting up blue, and even Sesame Street introduced a new character on the Autism Spectrum. In honor of the month-long celebration, Jackie Helm shares the stories of three wonderful individuals that she helps support at Opportunity Partners - Karlins Center. Head to the blog to read more!

Join us for Tuesday at the Capitol

Self-advocates and staff allies are invited to attend Tuesday at the Capitol on May 9. OP will be co-hosting the event along with the Minnesota Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities (MN-CCD) from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the Minnesota Department of Transportation Cafeteria in St. Paul. For more information, please contact Riah Roe.
Celebrating talent

The entertainment was endless at the Koch Campus talent show on March 31. Acts included singing, dancing and a puppet show!

The residential talent and art show was held April 18 at South High School. Attendees enjoyed a reception and arts display before the talent performances and arts and crafts award ceremony.

Service redesign - opportunities ahead

As we look at expanding community integration and independent employment at Opportunity Partners, we will be making some changes to our Supported Employment Teams (SETs) in an effort to make them more of a training experience - a pathway versus a final destination. We also have a number of new SET sites opening soon where we'll be able to provide new work experiences to more people. In order to be more responsive to the market needs, we are looking at how we can extend our hours at SETs and be positioned to start new sites quickly. We are excited about these changes - individuals we serve and families will learn more information in the coming weeks.
