Channeling Charity, Connecting with Children & Families
As you may have heard, April showers did not put a stop to CORA's Family Festival - 2 weeks ago the event went off without a hitch and I am extremely grateful for the sponsors, staff, volunteers and vendors that made it possible. CORA hosted a few hundred families for an afternoon of fun, games and great prizes. Thanks to our generous donors and participants in the raffle sales, we were able to completely cover the costs of the day and provide a wonderful opportunity for local families to visit and learn more about CORA and other valuable neighborhood resources.

In addition to supporting students, CORA supports parents and families. With Mother's day right around the corner, CORA is proud to announce the relaunch of our Lifeline Program, a pregnancy and parenting program for teenagers and young adults. I hope you are as excited as I am to welcome back this important program which really speaks to the mission Sr. Charity originally envisioned for CORA when she began this agency 46 years ago. As a mother of four, I know how important it is to have support when raising a family and I want CORA to continue to offer Philadelphia families the support they need to raise happy and healthy children. Happy Mother's Day to the many mothers and grandmothers who are part of the CORA family!
Last but not least, there's only one month left to get involved in the
9th annual CORA for Kids Golf Classic. CORA depends on events like these to raise awareness of the work we do and to raise funds that increase our ability to make a meaningful impact in the community. I hope you will consider attending or supporting this event in some way. Our golf committee co-chairs Rob McElhenney, of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Mike Schell, longtime employee of CORA Services, are working with our very dedicated committee to make the outing on June 26, 2017 another great event. Lifeline Revived
CORA's Lifeline Program serving pregnant/parenting teens and young adults has found a new start with new funding from the City of Philadelphia, Department of Behavioral Health. Lifeline returns to its thirty years of competent and compassionate services to young people after a year's hiatus to revitalize the program.
Lifeline services, coordinated by Roxanne Green, include a combination of educational programs on prenatal and post-delivery topics and building/supporting healthy relationships as well as case management for accessing supportive resources helpful to young parents and counseling interventions as appropriate.
All services begin with consultation and needs/service planning to create an array of services most appropriate for each client. Services are also extended to the grandparents-to-be and to others supporting the young parents.
Lifeline's new start is also marked by new operational sites including a unique intervention developed with and for young parents attending classes at the Orleans Technical College and an emerging relationship with the Frankford Redevelopment Corporation and selected non-public school sites.
Services are also available at CORA's main campus in Fox Chase and are available to Philadelphia County residents through age 22. Interested persons may contact Roxanne Green at 215-701-2727 or by calling CORA's CSD Intake, 215-342-7660.

Help your child build his/her inner superpowers! Compassionate staff will help instill confidence and facilitate fun while encouraging kids to be peacemakers in their communities. Camp includes weekly field trips, STEM activities and a literacy campaign in collaboration with the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Community resources represented included, the Free Library of Philadephia, Blooming Artist Studios, Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym, Catholic Community Services, Mayor's Office of Education, JFCS Elect, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Rhawnhurst Turning Point, Rotary Club and Maternity BVM school.
