Question #9: 
How do we keep kids' brains engaged over the summer?
School's out for the summer! With the final bell announcing summer break just about to ring, our kids are thinking of fun in the sun and lazy days ahead with no more lessons or homework. Summer break from school is a much anticipated and time-honored tradition for most American children and their families. However, decades of research is showing that a two to three month break from learning is having a significant impact on our children's educational experience. Recent studies conducted by the Harvard School of Education show that the average "summer learning loss", in math and reading for the average American child is one to two months per year and the effect tends to be cumulative. So by the time your child  reaches high school he or she could have potentially lost an entire academic year of knowledge.

FCS programs focus on nutrition, health, food safety, food preservation and local foods systems.
