Parsons Road bridge restricted to one lane
Traffic on the Parson Road bridge, north of Gales Creek near Hwy 6, is being reduced to one lane due to erosion behind one of the bridge supports.
"We've seen a substantial loss of material behind one of the bridge end supports," said Todd Watkins, Washington County Land Use & Transportation (LUT) Operations and Maintenance interim manager. "This is a rural road with low traffic volumes. We're reducing traffic to one lane to shift traffic away from the damaged portion of the bridge."
Crews will be monitoring the condition of the bridge on a weekly basis. Repairs are expected to be made this summer.
On May 2, LUT plans to ask the Board of Commissioners to approve weight limits on nine County bridges. If approved, 21 of the County's 184 bridges will be weight limited.
"Washington County bridges are inspected at regular intervals, and any deficiencies are prioritized," Watkins said. "Repairs ensure that the bridges remain functional. However, increased traffic volumes, larger trucks and decreased funding make staying ahead of the demand challenging."

Work begins on 113th Avenue pathway
Construction of a pedestrian pathway on the west side of 113th Avenue, between Anderson Street and Rainmont Boulevard, began Monday (April 24). The 5-foot-wide paved pathway will connect other existing pathway segments.
One lane of traffic will be closed between 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays to allow for work vehicles. A flagger will direct traffic through the open lane.
