ISSUE NO. 6 / May 2017
Principal's Pen for May 2017
wire-bound-pad.jpg
Welcome to the final stretch of the school year! Our students are busy with athletics, clubs, and the planning of all the traditional year-end activities. Speaking of being busy, Mrs. Gauvin has been working on her project for the Aspiring Leadership Program. She is leading Nashua Catholic in a Catholic identity self-study program which was just recently developed by the Diocese of Manchester. This spring, Mrs. Gauvin is completing an evaluation tool and compiling evidence in regard to the school's position on 6 standards for Catholic identity. She will help the principal in preparing summative essays in the early summer months. In the fall, Mrs. Gauvin will assist the principal in welcoming an evaluation team for a one day visit. From there, NC will receive commendations and recommendations and it will be a worthy process resulting in the strengthening of our Catholic identity. Look for your parent survey on Catholic identity soon!
May 16 will be a very special and exciting day for all of our NC students. Nashua Catholic will be among 6,000 Kindergarten through 12th grade students, faculty, and staff from 27 Catholic schools. We will gather together with Bishop Peter Libasci to celebrate Catholic education and to consecrate our entire system of Catholic schools to the Blessed Mother at the Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. Keep us in prayer!
Enjoy the May flowers after all of this rainy weather! May hope guide you to a sunny new tomorrow.

Peace and blessings,

Mrs. McFadden

This fine May week is National Teacher Appreciation Week.  At Nashua Catholic, our teachers and staff enjoyed a breakfast feast  thanks to our amazing parents!   Mrs. Laliberte and helpers organized the event. With the help of many talented moms, a fabulous breakfast was enjoyed! Our parents are a huge strength at Nashua Catholic.  Thank you!

At the Mass celebrated on May 25th and in the Mom's Prayer Group on May 18th, our Nashua Catholic community will thankfully remember everyone who has supported NC in any way this year. We appreciate all our parents for your help and prayers.  It is always a pleasure to have our parents join us for Mass at 9:00A.M

Athletics -
Spring is in full swing! April certainly did bring its fair share of showers, but now we hope for the beautiful May flowers and some dry fields!
The Nashua Catholic baseball and softball teams are getting into the meat of their schedules. The Wildcat baseball team is looking like they can certainly compete this year. Although they haven't gotten that first win under their belt yet, the boys have been playing well as a team. Coach Paul Williams has been very impressed with the team's approach at the plate and their hitting discipline. Being led by an 8th grade pitching staff, these boys are looking for a big push in the coming weeks, to ensure a spot in the playoffs.
Our Lady Wildcat softball team is showing tremendous growth already this season. Last year was a rough one for our girls, but the team this year boasts a very talented 7th grade class, some key 8th grade newcomers, and returning players. Coach Christine Carew has been more than happy with her girls' performance, and she is certain that these girls will have wins coming their way in the very near future.
Track and field has already competed in a few meets this season, and this team looks great. Not only are these athletes talented, but they are looking sharp in brand new team running singlets thanks to a very generous donation from NC grandmother, Mrs. Jane Levesque. Our runners have been gaining ground and improving on their times since the first practice, with some runners already boasting times that qualify them for the Tri-County State Track Meet on June 1. In the field events, Nashua Catholic has been making big waves in meets, with athletes already qualifying in high jump, shotput, and discus events. Coach Theresa Andolina is pleased with her group and is looking forward to being a force in our division.
Last but not least, our Nashua Catholic golfers have finally started their season. After a lengthy search for a head coach, the Wildcats are very pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Salzman will be taking the reins this season. With a couple practices under their belt, the golf team is eagerly anticipating their first match on Friday, May 5.
