We will begin Georgia Milestone End of Course (EOC) testing next week. The schedule below will be used during test administration window.  The EOC's will be administered beginning Monday, April 24 through Friday, May 5.

Milton students currently enrolled in the following EOC subjects:

CHANGES IN THE TESTING PROCESS:CHANGES
We have modified how we will administer the GA Milestone EOC tests this year.
  • Students who are required to take an EOC MUST report to school by the regular start time of 8:20AM.
  • Students who do not have an EOC scheduled on designated days and report to school at 8:20AM will be sent to the CAFETERIA for a supervised study hall.
  • ALL STUDENTS MUST report to school by 11:20AM on designated testing days as we will be running an adjusted schedule on those EOC administration days.
  • Students will be using their Fulton County issued Microsoft Surface 3 Tablet for testing. We will send reminders out for students to make sure their tablets are FULLY CHARGED and prepared for their test administration.
PARKING REMINDERSPARKIG
Attention all drivers: If you are not parked in your assigned parking space or visitors you will be subject to tow. Students are prohibited from parking in visitor parking unless someone is parked in your assigned space. You will be subject to tow, unless you report the issue to Coach Long (room 1276) or Coach Sylvestri (AD Office) prior to school day beginning (You will be provided a pass if the late bell rings for 1st period). Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
FINAL EXAM EXEMPTIONSEXAMEXEMP
Starting Monday, April 24, students can print out the exam exemption form by  clicking on this link or pick up in 1360.

SENIORS: Forms are due to 1360 by 3:30pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  LATE FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!  If a student is absent on the 10th, the form is still due.

GRADES 9-11: Forms are due to 1360 by 3:30PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
LATE FORMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! If a student is absent on the 17th, the form is still due.
If you have any questions, please see your grade-level administrator in 1360.
INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS
Mpire Broadcastingmpire
There will be an informational meeting for all students who are interested in working with the Mpire Broadcasting Team on Thursday (4/27) at 11:30AM (4th Period) in the teachers lounge located in the cafeteria. NFHS will be there to discuss our program and next years plan. If you cannot make it during 4th period please see Coach Sylvestri in the AD Office (6211) anytime to provide your name and interest. Working members of the Mpire Broadcasting Team will receive Eagle Passes, UA Apparel and they will take a field trip to a local news station.

Interested in playing volleyball?  There is an informational meeting on April 24 at 6:00PM in room 2208.
CLOSE OF SCHOOL YEAR/SUMMER INFORMATIONSUMMERINFO
Parents/Guardians: Please plan ahead for any items that you may need over the summer.

Summer office hours will be 7:30AM-3:30PM daily (closed from 11:30-12:00 for lunch). The school will be closed July 3rd and 4th for the Independence Day holiday.

ADAP : These should be requested from Mrs. Lee in 1320 or their health teacher prior to summer break if the student will be obtaining a driver's permit over the summer. If one is needed over the summer, email shamis@fultonschools.org and then the student can pick it up. NOTE: These certificates were given out after the student completed the drug and alcohol awareness portion in health class. We can only give a replacement if the student completed their health class at Milton and in the classroom. The student should pick up the form in person.

Certificate of enrollment for driver's permit : These should be requested from Mrs. Lee in 1320 prior to summer break if the student will be obtaining a permit. NOTE: these certificates are only good for 30 days. Students may obtain these in person at the front desk over summer.
Yearbooks will be available for students who purchased a yearbook, but somehow missed pick-up or new ones may be purchased while supplies last. Checks only

Diploma: These may be picked-up if a student missed graduation or if fees need to be paid to receive the diploma. Checks only

Textbook Return: Textbook return/Literature paperbacks/Fees for Media Hub. Checks only

Enrollment : Enrollment is done on an appointment basis only. Email Michelle Hight Hight@fultonschools.org to schedule an appointment. Enrollment packets are available on-line at:
http://school.fultonschools.org/hs/milton/Pages/Counseling.aspx under New Student Enrollment Information or one can be picked up from the front office.

Withdrawal: If a student will be withdrawing over the summer please email Dolores Shamis shamis@fultonschools.org or let the counselor know so that the paperwork can be completed prior to summer.

Work Permits : Students who are 15 will need a work permit.
Go to: http://dol.georgia.gov/get-youth-work-permit-online   to begin working on the student section. Print out the page with the access code for future reference. The future employer will provide their information to you. Both parts should be brought in and the issuing officer will enter and verify all the information and print the permit. The student needs to appear in person to obtain the work permit. These may be completed by Ms. Lee in 1320 until summer break and then they can be completed in the front office during summer office hours.

SENIOR CELEBRATION AT SIX FLAGSSRCELEBR
Seniors, mark your calendars for Monday, May 22 for an all-day Senior Event at Six Flags! Buses will load at 9:30AM at MHS and will leave the park at 6:00PM to return to MHS. There will be chaperones on each bus and at the park. Ticket prices are $42 - paid for by your senior dues. This includes park admission, transportation, and lunch. Students may bring extra spending money for any additional items. If you have NOT paid your $85 senior dues, please pay ASAP so that all seniors can participate in the trip, just as they have all year in all senior PTSA events. If you are unsure if you have paid your dues, or for more info for paying dues, please email miltonsrdues@gmail.com so that the PTSA team can follow up with you.  Thanks to the PTSA Senior Events Team for organizing this special event. CIRQUE SPRING PERFORMANCESCIRQUE
Your Milton Theatre Company invites you their performance of Cirque OLANO. A cautionary tale of - What you want, or think you need is very often what you are better without!
Shows will be April 27-29 & May 4-6 at 7:00PM and matinee performances at 2:00PM on the 29th and 6th. Tickets are available online www.miltontheatrecompany.com ($15/$20) and will be sold at the door. This extravaganza will take your breath away and should not be missed!

2017-2018 ONLINE CLASS INFORMATIONONLINE
Milton High School is pleased to offer a variety of courses and learning opportunities to our students. Students who are interested in taking an online course during their regular instructional day (as one of their six Milton HS courses) must apply for an online class by May 1, 2017.
Students must apply by completing the MHS Google Document on the MHS website AND by registering with the online provider.
Students may apply with either GA Virtual ( www.gavirtualschool.org) or Fulton Virtual 
( http://www.fultonschools.org/en/divisions/acd/learnteach/InstrTech/Pages/FultonVirtual.aspx). All applications must be processed and approved by the counselor. If you have any questions please see your counselor. 

EARLY RELEASE OPTION FOR 2017-18 SCHOOL YEAREARLYRELEASE
Milton High School would like to reward rising seniors who have consistently shown success throughout their time in high school. Therefore, rising seniors are allowed to apply for an early release opportunity for the 2017-2018 school year. Rising seniors must apply for this opportunity by May 1 of their junior year. The application is available on the MHS website; specific qualifications are listed in the application. Please contact your counselor with any follow up questions.

2017 SUMMER SCHOOLSUMMER
Summer school registration has begun! Please review the summer school documents for face-to-face and online summer school options (link below). Students and Parents may register online by using the appropriate links. It is critical that students make up any courses that are required for graduation. Students will only be promoted to the next grade level if they have met the required number of credits by the first day of school.
Students must have:
5.0 credits to be a sophomore
11.0 credits to be a junior
17.0 credits to be a senior

SENIORS: The graduation board will be going up in the cafeteria very soon! Please make sure you have completed the Senior Exit Survey (counseling), turn in your requests for your final transcript (1340), AND complete the CCC google form in order to be included on the wall. Information about the CCC form will be posted in the cafeteria beginning April 24.

TENNIS
It's been another big week for Milton Tennis! Congrats to JV Boys for beating Northview to earn the Region Title for the second year in a row. Not only did they secure the JV Region Championship they end their season with an undefeated record!
 
Additional congrats to Varsity Boys who beat Brookwood in the first round of the state tournament. The boys varsity team will head to Valdosta on Monday to battle Lowndes High School.
 
Girls Varsity also celebrated a first round win against Parkview and will move to the second round and play North Paulding at home at 4:00PM this Monday!

Good luck to both teams as they advance in the State Tournament!
 
ACADEMICS
GEORGIA POET LAUREATE
The 2017 Georgia Poet Laureate's Prize winner is Milton student Max Morella! The Governor, the First Lady, and the Poet Laureate will recognize Max at 10:00AM on the morning of Tuesday, May 2, in the Office of the Governor at the State Capitol in Atlanta. Following the ceremony at the Capitol, the Poet Laureate's Prize winner will travel to the Margaret Mitchell House Museum for a private tour. In addition, Atlanta Magazine will publish Max's poem, bio, and photograph on their website. Congratulations Max!

MATH TEAM
The JV State Math Tournament was held at Stratford Academy in Macon, GA this past Saturday, April 22. Milton's Math Team had an excellent showing, placing first in the Large School DivisionGyu Kim placed 2nd individualy, and Asmi Kumar placed 3rd.  Our Junior Varsity Math Team comprised of Asmi Kumar, Nicole Lin, Arnav Lal, and Gyu Kim. Congratulations to our JV Math Team!
