"So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.  Love never gives up.  Love cares more for others than for self.  Love doesn't want what it can't have.  Love doesn't strut."

     1 Corinthians 13:7 NSRV

These words are meant for everyday of our lives.  Give love away every time you get a chance.  May you celebrate Valentine's Day every day of your life.

Youth Quake 2017, March 24th thru 26th.

Our Middle School Youth Quake weekend in the Wisconsin Dells is fast approaching!! We are so excited! Youth from churches all over, come together to grow in faith and our relationship with Jesus. The kids will experience a weekend of fun, fellowship, and worship with nationally known Christian bands and speakers. They will get a chance to participate in small and large group activities and service projects. Never mind the fact that it is held at the Wilderness Hotel and WATERPARK!! The youth will also have time to hit the slides with friends and leaders. The fee this year is $204.00 with the option of fundraising to help offset the cost. Our Youth Group is currently selling super awesome T- shirts that were designed with the mission of shining Gods light in the community. You can find an order form in your church bulletin, or in the gathering space at church! T-shirt sales END FEBRUARY 1st. We would love for every student to be able to join us for this event! If you are in the midst of a financial hardship, please let us know as scholarships are available.   The option to sponsor a student, should this be on your heart, would be such a gift and a blessing to those that otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to go. Please contact Holly Bromeland middleschool@immanuellg.org or Sarah Beauregard children@immanuellg.org with any questions.

MISSION

Treehouse

The Tree House is also in need of ongoing supplies...these include certain snacks, toys, books, "lovie" blankets, etc. Children's Hospital requires that all toys, books, etc be new.   Check out the website for more information on the WCAC and how you can be of assistance: www.wcac4kids.org .
If you, your family or members of a small group or other ministry group would like to join in bringing joy to these children and families, please contact Evie Schulz for further information. You will be blessed for being a blessing.
Snacks are needed on an ongoing basis.  Often times children arrive hungry, thirsty and haven't eaten in a while or may be at The Tree House for several hours.  Items such a individually sealed crackers, juice boxes, bottled water, packaged fruit snacks or other healthy packaged, non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.  There will be a box with WCAC sign on it in the Gathering Space next to a Poster regarding The WCAC/Tree House.  Please note that the advocacy center is a division of Children's Hospital of Milwaukee.
Upon completing the forensic interview, physical exam and/or counseling session, all children are offered a small toy or game.  These items must be new in accordance with Children's Hospital rules.  Examples would be board games, action figures, dolls, books, crafts or activities, sports items, stuffed animals, hot wheels, toy trucks.  The cost for these items range between $5-$10.  Anyone who would like to shop for these items are welcome to put them in the box in the Gathering Space.  These items should not be wrapped.  Another option is to make a monetary contribution.  Checks should be written to the WCAC and sent to W4063 Hwy NN, Elkhorn 53121.  Indicate on the memo line that your donation is for "snacks" or "toys".  You will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Check out the website:  wcac4kids.org for more information on WCAC/The Tree House and ways you can help.

I look forward to seeing all of you at the meeting.  Please call or e-mail me with any questions or concerns. Kristen Larkin  414-491-1969 email , kristinlarkin@yahoo.com Thank you so much for being a part of this important ministry!

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Ages range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.

This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.

If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly and is fun besides.  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.

Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket).  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.

The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

THANKS

+ Thank you to all who decorated Immanuel for Christmas and to Hawk and Karen Taylor and Donna Hove for taking everything down and packing it up. We are so thankful for your hard work.

+ As this year's coordinators of the Lake Geneva Salvation Army Kettle Drive, we would like to thank the members of Immanuel for their generous gift of time and money this holiday season. Many of you braved the extreme cold and snow. And it took time out of everyone's busy schedule to man the kettles for eight full days and one half day. During that time we collected $4,651.86. Immanuel did the lion's share of ringing. With the help of other churches and organizations, we collected $18,495 to be used for needy individuals and families in Walworth County throughout the year. In addition, Mobil Oil (Bill's former employer) donated $500 to Salvation Army for our volunteer work.
This year we again asked for "weekend coordinators" to put out the kettles in the morning exchange them around 1p,m,, collect them at night and deposit the money in the bank. Many thanks to those of you who took on the time-consuming job - Steve and Judy Guy, Tom Hartz, Pete and Pam Juergens and family, Todd and Erin Huemann and Ken and Ursula Fields. They lightened the load for us. We couldn't have done it without them.
Together we will be able to make a difference this coming year in the lives of those in need of emergency help. Thanks for your heart to care!
Georgia and Bill Gehrmann

+ Thank you for the beautiful quilt. All you quilters did such a lovely job. It sure is pretty. I love it. Also thank you for the cookies, candy and fruit. It is very much appreciated. Sincerely, Pat Owen

+ Immanuel Family, the plant and card was beautiful. Thank you for your support. Love Katie Nagel & Family

+ Dear Immanuel Family, It has been an honor and a privilege to work with all of you over the past 4 ½ years as administrative assistant. You have taught me so much about love, community and the importance of serving the Lord. Thank you for sharing your lives with me and being a part of this wonderful church. My prayer is for God to guide us at Immanuel as we move forward in our search for new leaders. I'll see you in church! Love, Brenda Follensbee.
