Dear Parents,

April 29th was the feast day of our school's patroness, St. Catherine of Siena. Catherine was born on March 25th, the feast of the Annunciation, in 1347. From am early age, she demonstrated extraordinary virtue in devoting herself to the love of God.

She eventually became a Dominican Tertiary. She lived a life of prayer and service to the poor. Catherine was a writer, mystic, stigmatist, and doctor of the Church, she is an example for us all in what it means to fulfill our vocation as Christians.

Our students participated in a special prayer service to honor St. Catherine and asked her to watch over us all as we grow in our faith and understanding for the love of God. They did a wonderful job.

Quote from Pope Francis:

"May our attitude be gentle and humble, attentive in caring for the poor."

Faithfully yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Exciting News From The Bishop                      A stained glass image depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus

On Divine Mercy  Sunday, Bishop Caggiano announced an exciting new movement -
The Face of Prayer - an online crusade that brings together social media, text alerts, and the power of prayer.

Are you willing to pray with the Bishop Caggiano every day? Text a selfie, your prayer intention, or the word
"pray" to 55778 and join in the journey as we learn more about the
power of prayer. Participants will receive a daily prayer intention from the bishop that ends with a call to prayer.

The goal of the campaign is to have thousands of people -
especially our young church - praying each day alongside the bishop as we grow together in holiness.
Be the face of prayer and join today.

SCSS Art Show 2017
Thursday, May 11th

St. Catherine of Siena School has been invited by the Town of Trumbull Arts Commission to participate in an art exhibition to showcase the work of student artists from Trumbull private schools.  The art show will run from May 11-25 at the Westfield Trumbull Shopping Center outside JC Penney on the lower level. (This is where we find Santa during the holiday season.)

The exhibit will feature art from all St. Catherine's students in grades PreK-4 through grade 8, as well as select students from St. Joseph High School and Christian Heritage School. All of our students will receive a participation ribbon from the Trumbull Arts Commission.

On Thursday May, 11, 2017 there will be an opening reception at 7:00 pm at the Westfield Trumbull Shopping Center to celebrate the student artists.  All students, families and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. This is an amazing opportunity to let our school spirit shine, as well as showcase the wonderful and talented students we have at SCSS!
