Huasco Chunky Beanie

A quick beautiful knit

We're loving this fun yarn from Araucania. It's 'squishy' and as it's chunky, it works up fast!

Just 2 skeins of Huasco Chunky and this free pattern makes this cute hat. (ask us for the pattern when you order your yarn)

If you don't feel like making the hat, just knit or crochet it and let those beautiful colors tell the story. As we like to say, "Let the yarn do the work!"

Vogue Knitting Gloria
This beautiful Melanie Berg piece is featured in the latest Spring/Summer Vogue Knitting magazine! Knit with  Gloria from Manos del Uruguay, you'll love this simple to knit piece made from just 3 skeins!

Don't have the magazine? We do, along with the yarn!

Clara Flower Crochet Scarf
Crochet Flower Scarf

A fun scarf to make with all sorts of yarn. We love the little flower pattern in the piece. We used one skein of Manos Clara to make up this scarf, but you can use about 380 yards of any DK weight yarn.

Auntie Wooly
Auntie Wooly Says...

Dahlings!

While most of the support we see is for knitters, rest assured we love crochet! Everyone in the shop does crochet and most of us started that way. There are things that are so much easier with crochet which is why we always urge knitters to pick up at least the basics of crochet. After all, sometimes you just want to use a different technique. One thing we really admire is how crocheters are always making up their own patterns, something we don't see as many knitters tackle.

We try to stock a wide variety of hooks and patterns for crocheters, and of course, all our yarns can be crocheted. If there's something you're looking for for your next crochet project, just let us know!

Until next time...

Happy Stitching!

Auntie W

Barry Klein
SAVE THE DATES!

We're so excited to announce that  Barry Klein of Trendsetter Yarns will be here on October 7 and 8 which is Columbus Day Weekend!

You know it's fun in town because of the Scarecrow Festival, so make plans to come visit, join in the fun, and see all the latest and greatest from someone that grew up in the yarn business!

Barry was here once before, and we had so much fun we're glad he's decided to come back for a visit to the Central Coast. He's a busy guy that travels the world introducing people to the wonderful world of fiber, so we feel very privileged to have him join us for a second time.

More details are coming, but be sure and make plans to come see us for what will certainly be a fun and fiber filled weekend with activities in town for everyone.

Remix Light

A Berroco Knit/Crochet-a-Long

Here's a fun thing to do this Spring, join us for a Knit/Crochet-a-Long with Berroco Remix Light!

We're fans of this DK weight yarn made from 100% recycled materials. It's a delightful blend of a variety of fibers, including linen, cotton, and silk. There's no wool, so it's perfect for your warmer weather projects or for those with wool sensitivities.

This KAL/CAL works a little differently from most in that with this project, you can choose any pattern using Berroco Remix Light and join in!

The good folks at Berroco are knitting the Derecho Tee, which is in the Remix Light Booklet available from us. We can also recommend Kris' East Village Poncho, a very simple knit using just 3 skeins of Remix Light.

Are you a crocheter? Choose Remix Light and the free crochet pattern listed above or any crochet pattern using DK weight yarn!

Rimu Scarf

Possum?

Yes, Possum!

Brush Tail Possum from New Zealand is a different animal than the "road kill" possum we have in the US. It's delightfully soft, almost like cashmere. This scarf is made using Zealana Rimu, a DK weight Possum/Merino blend that is even machine washable!

Just 4 skeins and our free pattern makes this delightful and easy-to-knit scarf.

Danny Come Home

Oz in a new play!

Our own Oz Barron will be in a new play at Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre.

Written by two local writers, this original musical is being presented as a Readers Theater, meaning very minimal staging and costuming. Based on a true story that happened in San Luis Obispo, this amusing story features lots of great music as well as dogs that sing! Woof!

Presented Friday May 26 at 7:30, and Saturday May 27 at 2PM and again at 7:30PM. Wine bar open both nights at 6:30.

Tickets are only $10 and are available at the box office, by calling 805-927-8190, or at  brownpapertickets.com

People are barking to get in! (We couldn't resist)
