Welcome Aurora!
We have a new production assistant, Aurora Ilog, beginning at rehearsals this weekend. Aurora is a graduate of Whittier College and majored in music business. She has interned at both the LA Philharmonic and Pasadena Symphony and Pops in their marketing and development departments. Aurora is a vocalist, and we are glad to have her on our team. Please help us welcome her to SDYS!

Register to Audition Now
Online registration for the 2017-18 season is now open! This is your chance to show the results of your hard work all season long.
Register and audition to make more music next year, and challenge yourself to advance even further at SDYS!
Current students, click now on My SDYS Portal to register through the Parent Portal.
Audition Dates
Auditions will be held in early to mid June. All currently enrolled musicians--
including marching band students--must audition in June.
The deadline to register is Monday, May 22 at 12 NOON. Audition assignments will be emailed out to families on Friday, May 26.
If you are traveling in the summer, we recommend you plan your trip for after the audition.

Volunteer Opportunity at Open House
Looking for a way to volunteer? Do you love connecting with new people and would like to represent SDYS to potential new students and families?
We are looking for parent volunteers to help welcome student/parent guests who are considering joining SDYS at our Open House on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30.
Parents who sign up will welcome visitors, record their contact information on a sign up sheet that will be provided to you, guide them into our rehearsal rooms, and answer any questions or direct them to our staff. Generally, we are asking you to help make our guests feel welcome!
This volunteer opportunity is worth 1 service per hour of volunteering (or any portion of an hour). For example, if you volunteer 1.5 hours, it is worth 2 volunteer services. Thank you for your consideration!

Adjusted Rehearsal Schedule
On Saturday, May 6, we will host our annual Encore! fundraising event here in Casa del Prado. The event will take place from 5 pm to 9 pm, and will conflict with some of our regular rehearsal times.
Below is the adjusted rehearsal schedule. Please note, these are start times for rehearsals. All students must be present 15 minutes before rehearsal begins to be ready and warmed up.

Congratulations to Daniel Nieberg for his acceptance into the High School Music Composition Summer Program with Interlochen Center for the Arts! This six-week composition program will provide Daniel with private composition lessons twice a week, and give Daniel a plethora of educational experiences. Kudos to Daniel!

Congratulations to Gabriella Grasso for her acceptance into the summer Trumpet
Workshop with the Oberlin College and Conservatory. The 10-day session offers daily master classes, private lessons, performance classes, and recitals. This summer Gabriella will study with Oberlin College and Conservatory's Associate Professor of Trumpet Roy Poper. Kudos to Gabriella!
Congratulations to Christine Kim who has been accepted to the Music Teachers' Association of California Young Artist Guild Program. As an accepted student Christine will be granted membership in the Guild for five years. During this five-year tenure, she will be offered semi-professional paid performance opportunities through MTAC branch-sponsored concerts. Christine's first upcoming performance is at the State MTAC Convention YAG recital on June 30. Kudos to Christine!

The Walden School
The Walden School Young Musicians Program provides a creative summer experience for musically inclined students ages 9 to 18. Part school, part camp, and part festival, the program convenes each summer for five weeks in Dublin, NH.
