Dear Ramsey and Saddle River Parents,
Our Ramsey Google Domain was hit by an enormous email phishing scam campaign today. The email looked like the one below:
Clicking on the blue "Open in Docs"
button would bring you to a Google Login screen. After either selecting your account (if you were already logged in) or logging in with your Google credentials, a window like the one below would appear:
Clicking the blue "Allow" button gave this scammer full access to your email account, which it used to send the same email as above to everyone in your contacts.
If you received this email and followed all of the steps outlined above, please do the following immediately:
and click on any app called "Google Docs" and select Remove.
This will prevent any further access to your account. I spoke to Google Support and they confirmed that the app did not collect passwords. That said, you may still want to change your Google password as an extra precaution.
This was a Global issue that seems to have struck any organization with a Google Domain. Google has since fixed things on their side to block this app from further accessing people's accounts.
