Blaine County School District Receives National Music Designation Fourth Year in a Row
For the fourth year in a row, the
NAMM Foundation
(National Association of Music Merchants) recognizes the Blaine County School District for its outstanding commitment to music education with a Best Communities for Music Education designation.
The Blaine County School District joins 476 out of the nation's 13,515 districts across the country to receive the prestigious distinction this year. Blaine County is the only school district in Idaho to receive the award.

Orchestra Students Attended State
Five students qualified at Districts to attend State in Boise: Violins: Arika Gourley, Analicia (Josie) Koeplin, Jorgen Lawrence, Viola: Thalia Rojas, Cello: Lance Verst.
Thalia Rojas placed third and medaled on her Viola Solo and the Harriman Quartet consisting of Arika, Jorgen, Thalia, and Lance placed fourth.

Student Places 1st in National Business Competition
Wood River High School students competed in the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference. According to their website, thousands of students from across the country gathered to compete, showcase their business skills and develop their leadership acumen in Boston, MA. Congratulations to Caitie Sfinigi who placed 1st in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.

Student Honored By Trout Unlimited
According to the
Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Enrique Dolores, a sophomore at Wood River High School, has been selected by Trout Unlimited to attend their annual Youth Leadership Conference to be held June 19-23 at Georgetown Lake Montana. Enrique was chosen among applicants from all over the country in recognition of his 6 years of volunteer service to the Hemingway Chapter of Trout Unlimited. A member of the National Honor Society as well as the lacrosse and soccer teams at the high school, Enrique also serves on the Board of Directors of the local Trout Unlimited chapter as a Youth Advisor.

Drug Coalition and Blaine County School District Partner for Youth Survey
The Drug Coalition is collaborating with the Blaine County School District (BCSD) to sponsor the Developmental Assets Profile survey. The Drug Coalition Executive Director Amber Larna states, "Our community has been collecting this data since 2002 and using it to assess how organizations support our youth and their development. It is an excellent gauge of the strengths and weaknesses of the community in regards to at-risk behavior and the resiliency of our youth."
