May Open House:

From Mrs. DiTommaso ([email protected]):

Dear St. Ignatius Families:

Time surely has a way of getting away from us. There are only 29 more days of school left until the summer break! May we remember this month to pray the Rosary in honor of the Blessed Mother. Our children will pray the rosary outside daily, weather permitting.
C:\Users\St. Ignatius\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\HEGEGV2M\olf[1].png The Annual May Procession will take place on Thursday, May 11 th at 7:00pm. During this prayer service, Mary will be crowned by our May Queen, Sarah Baker. All students are expected to attend. Students are to be in their classrooms at 6:45pm. If it rains we will meet in the auditorium. First Communicants are to wear their Communion outfits, Confirmation students are to wear their red robes with their uniforms and the 8 th grade graduates are to wear their uniforms with their robes. All other students are to wear their regular spring uniforms. Anyone wishing to walk in the procession is to meet in the front of school. I will need dads to carry the statute.
C:\Users\St. Ignatius\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\8892391Q\GreatJob[1].gif Congratulations go out to three of our students that placed in the top 10, out of 100 students, in the IHM Math Contest:
Jay Moyer - grade 7 - 7 th place
Michael Carroll - grade 7 - Honorable Mention
Emmet Young - grade 8 - 9 th place

C:\Users\St. Ignatius\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\F4OXIU4Y\gi01a201405150100[1].png Our Annual Spring Art/Music Show will take place on Monday, May 15 at 7:00pm. All students are a part of this event and are to report to church at 6:45pm. We will begin with the Music portion in the auditorium and then move over to the school to view the Art exhibits. Clothing requirements for each grade have been sent by the teachers and can be found on our website.

C:\Users\St. Ignatius\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\HEGEGV2M\twitter-bird-help-wanted-social-media_200x200[1].jpg Volunteers are needed to help Mrs. Parisian, our Art teacher, hang students' work for the exhibit. Anyone that can help is asked to come to school at 8:30lam. Thank you in advance for giving your time for our students.

Protecting God's Children classes for adult volunteers will be held on Wednesday, May 10 th at 6:30pm at St. Marks in Bristol. All volunteers must attend one of these sessions in order to volunteer in our school. You must register for this class at: www.virtusonline.org .
Please continue to pray for Mrs. Casey as her recovery is moving along slowly.

Home and School Nominations:

Dear St. Ignatius Parents,

Happy Spring!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday.  It seems hard to believe but we are quickly closing in on the end of the school year so there is some Home and School business I wanted to share.

ELECTIONS

It's time to line up the Home & School Board for the 2017-2018 school year which means, it's time for nominations!!!  Nadine Bontempo and I will be continuing in our positions as Treasurer and President for a second year.  A special thank you goes out to Janet Padula and Jackie Racz have completed their terms as Vice President and Secretary, respectively, as well as Maggie Deeds, Megan Sweitzer and Dorothy Aschenbrenner who have served their terms as Board Chairs.  We truly appreciate all that each of them have done to serve our school, children and families!

At this time, we are looking for anyone interested in any of the following positions:
  • VICE PRESIDENT  - as a member of the Executive Board, the Vice President is to perform the duties of the President whenever the President is absent.  The Vice President is also responsible for planning school assemblies or guest speakers with Mrs. DiTommaso, Mr. Merrick and the Rectory, and works with the Physical Education Teacher to plan Field Day.
  • SECRETARY  - as a member of the Executive Board, the primary responsibility of the Secretary is to record minutes of monthly Home & School Board meetings, and handle any correspondence as directed by the board.
  • SCHOOL ASSISTANCE BOARD CHAIR   - with the assistance of the Executive Board, the role of the School Assistance Board Chair is to provide guidance as needed to the following committees: DARE, Yearbook, Uniform Closet, Recess Duty Coordinator and Room Parent Coordinator.  This individual then provides updates from these committees to the Board as needed.  Furthermore, this individual is also responsible for acting as the "Sunshine Chair," providing birthday cards to faculty and staff and Mass cards as appropriate.  All supplies to carry out this duty are provided to the individual by the Home & School Association.
  • SUPPLEMENTAL BOARD CHAIR  - with the assistance of the Executive Board, the primary role of the Supplemental Board Chair is to provide guidance as needed to the following committees: Box Tops, Parish Picnic, Book Fair, Turkey Bingo, Santa Secret Shop, Faculty Appreciation, Science Fair and Scrip.  This individual then provides updates from these committees to the Board as needed.
As you considering taking on one of these roles, keep in mind that two individuals can co-serve in any one of these positions.  Furthermore, while each is a one-year commitment, incumbents are always given the option to continue for a second year.

We hope that you will consider serving in one of these open positions.

It is a great way to get involved in the school and help support the Home & School Association in supporting the students, teachers and families of St. Ignatius School!  If you have any questions or would like to learn more about any of the openings, please contact me or any of the current board members.  Finally, while nominations of others are also welcome, we ask that you discuss this with the individual prior to nominating them.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Home & School!
